I cannot find a therapist who will see me likely because I am a liability. They run for the hills once they know my background.

Anyway, how bad would it be to find new therapist and not tell them about any of my psychiatric history (including my diagnosis and that I am on a lot of medication) and let them come to their own conclusion?

I want help. I want to get better. But doctors tend to either brush over my more difficult attributes or refuse to treat me. What else can I do?

I hope you will get some good answers. The first thing that comes to mind is that if you have had a therapist in the past, even if they fired you as a client, you could ask that person for a referral or at least some suggestions as to how to go about finding someone who is qualified, willing, and able to deal with your diagnoses. It could save you some time maybe.

Also, you could ask for suggestions or a referral from the person who is prescribing your psych meds--assuming that person is a psychiatrist or a different practitioner in the psych field (I don't think I would ask a general practitioner this question, but I might, depending on the person).

Unfortunately the therapist I had for three years wouldn't give me referrals and has basically refused to give me any help in finding someone new (I didn't do anything to her I was just "too sick for private practice"), and my psychiatrist only referred me to another hospital affiliated therapist who isn't great. She will see me but I get nothing from seeing her. I can try to get back on the waitlist for a different hospital therapist but its a minimum of 3 months wait with no guarantees My psychiatrist is unreliable, incredibly difficult to get ahold of and doesn't listen to me at all. I really think starting over is my only option. No one in my life will listen either. It just makes them too uncomfortable and I get that. It makes me feel like I am disqualified from therapy for being too messed up.

That sounds very frustrating. I'm so sorry. That really stinks.

Where I live, public health is quite hostile in terms of mental health and I only go there to get official reports or to make arrangements for certificates.
The rest of the reports and treatments have been from private medicine, psychologists and private psychiatrists.

I admit I'm a little rebellious and I despair of them with my attitude, sometimes I'm very critical, but I don't care if I'm just looking for a good person to take care of me and support me.

Keep looking if you can afford it, the key is to find a good person .. there are people who prefer doctors with a reputation or with many references, but this sometimes only indicates that it treats many people at once and makes me think that maybe he cannot devote the necessary time to his patients.

Don't give up and keep on your search, the world is full of good people and therefore good doctors or therapists.

Good luck

I agree I think you are right their are good therapists and doctors out there. I am bipolar and I don't know if that's why but sometimes I want help and other times I just push away. I'll keep trying until I can't anymore.
