SS is like no other place

This forum has given me a place that doesn't exist in the "real world" being able to directly talk about my suicidal thoughts and have people be like "me too!" Makes me feel so much more normal. Thanks to the creators of this site and everyone I have interacted with.

As for feedback, it would be better if instead of private chat there was just the conversation option. They perform the same function so I think it would be less confusing if they were both merged and kept in the envelope place.

I've considered that too, but I've realised that different members use chat/convos differently. I believe a lot of new members use chat as it is a more open forum and they don't yet know anybody. People often switch to PMs as people make friendships. Personally, I've never favoured chat, but I can see that a lot of new members do, so I wouldn't want to see it go. But I've never gotten along with the private chat function, just doesn't work well for me.

No I agree, what I mean is that there is "conversations" and also private "chats" they both do the same thing, of just a 1 on 1 message, but it's kind of confusing to have both.

Yes, that is true. I see the private chats as just an adjunct to the open chat that can just be ignored if desired. But it used to vex me when people would send me a private chat instead of a convo because I find the private chat system clunky.

Yeah I agree, and I feel like you get less of a notification as opposed to what you get for the conversation

The private chat function is plain useless. You don't even get notified when there's a new message in the chat.

Not sure, sometimes I've actually had an audible ping on my phone, and sometimes not. You get a notification in the bell notifications but, but not in the messages bit obviously. I find it clunky and i just ignore it.
