As the title suggests, whenever I squeeze my carotid arteries (my thumb pressing upon one side, and both my index and middle fingers upon the other side), nothing happens.
I apply as much pressure as I can without stopping my ability to breathe, hell, my nails have dug into my skin and yet, nothing. My neck is reddened. And absolutely nothing.

Last time I tried this, I remembered feeling relaxed, I could feel the world slipping away. But now? It just...doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong? Is it just a case of 'too little pressure'? Or am I like, missing the carotid artery somehow?

(I've been trying to press just below my jaw, while leaning foward by the way. That's where I can feel a pulse, don't know if this information really helps though.)

If you are not feeling dizzy, then you are not hitting the correct place. If you cut off the blood supply to your brain you will get fizzy and pass out. Also, you should be able to breathe the whole time. If you are cutting off your windpipe, you are pressing in the wrong place.

I can breathe when I'm doing it.
I'm also pressing down on my pulse. But I'm still not feeling dizzy. Could it be that I'm not actually pressing on the carotid artery and like, pressing somewhere else, somehow?

I'll try also pressing somewhere else on my neck.

(Thanks for the help!)
Update: Tried a different spot. Nothing happened. I have no clue where I'm going wrong anymore. Squeezed just below my neck, tried squeezing below my Adam's apple, nothing is working anymore. Don't feel dizzy. I'm kinda panicking now because this worked once and now it's just...not.

11:09 (GMT),
I DID IT!

I was indeed pressing the carotid artery, it's just, I think I applied too little pressure.
This time, my vision was going black, it was like black dots everywhere. And when I stopped, my body was shaking.
The method that works best for me is to point your chin up, so that the carotid arteries are more exposed. And then squeeze, upwards so that more force is applied.
Sorry for any typos or if some of this is worded strangely, there's adrenaline running through me right now.
(It felt so fun too!)

Edit, 12:44: When I say I was 'shaking', i was more or so kinda convulsiving, my body itself was going back and fourth, my arms were frozen, and my legs were shaking/twitching.

Why are you doing this? Practice for fsh? It's interesting that chin up helped.

It's for the ligature strangulation method. I need to know where exactly I should apply the ligature and how to know if I'm going unconscious or not.

You don't actually need that much pressure; it seems anyway.
I can get it spot on now.

Although, I wonder why, in the ligature strangulation mega thread, they don't tell you this. They tell you to 'lean forward', but that doesn't actually seem to work.
(Idk, maybe it's just something to do with me being severely underweight.)
