Specific Sarco questions (including 3D printing)

Can you actually currently access the 3D print plans for the Sarco? I'd imagine no one could actually share a link with me on here

Also, how much would it cost to 3D print a Sarco? The more legit 3D printers seem to run from about $2,000-$10,000 themselves, and I'm not sure how much it costs to go to a 3D print shop

I hadn't heard of the Sarco device and looked it up. Wish I had one!

According to the Wiki, open source plans for the sarco were to be released at some point in 2019.

Had to look this up too as never heard of it..............I dont know it by law they'd be able to allow anyone to 3D print such a thing........no doubt some big idea or scam. Be no good for me, hare being trapped and am very claustrophobic............in a way if they did allow this, would be asking for trouble.............although sounds like would be pricey so not many could mess about with it anyway. Going to fork out that sort of money, best to go to a clinic and have done safely.

They dont have them here in UK I would have to to go Dignitas in Switzerland if chose that..........not many places have these clinics I agree. As for qualifying, yes there is criteria to follow, have to be..............someone once posted they wanted to die as they had been told off at school that day, if someone like that was to end their life and could do legally, then people be ending their lives left, right and centre for the smallest things............the suffering has to be great physically/mentally.............would be far too many ethics involved if was too easy..........its sad as too many young people CTB as it is, when in few years there lives could've turned out beautifully.................its horrible though if you dont qualify and I am not undermining this, not at all, just trying to convey how it has to be 'hard' to qualify for all sorts of reasons. Some people confuse daily crap and wanting to die with really serious things/afflictions and wanting to die and its so tragic.

They could obviously get therapy first if they wanted to

AFAIK, the sarco is just a very fancy exit bag (inert gas). I think it would work with liquid nitrogen, but it's basically the same.

Nothing really practical, just a design project by Nitschke to push the discussion on euthanasia.

All the same, can you confirm if the plans have been released? Or can you say how much it would probably cost to 3D print it?

Just watched the latest Sarco workshop stream so can reply a bit.

The plans have not been released yet for the general public but are still planed to be.
The initial prototype cost about $8000 materials included (the front window was exceptionally built from glass instead of plastic printed due to time constraints). This amount is no more relevant as it happened about 2 years ago and the 3D printing sector is progressing rapidly. Even at this time, large enough printers for home production hardly seem to be a reality .

There is a second revised version coming soon, which should have a sitting / semi-standing position instead of elongated. The new unit would be reusable without a removeable biodegradable coffin part. It was also talked about an ability to accommodate for two people at once so a couple can leave together.

Long list of volunteers: the first supervised exit is targeted to happen this year through Pegasos (Finland is also studied). The ultimate goal stands to bypass the need for a medical prescription of N, in order to open up to cases under a lighter approval process, still according to swiss laws.

Nope. I suppose it will come last, after it has been tested & approved from real experiences at Pegasos

Seems like not at this time. I believe you'd have to seek a large capacity model through a professional like they did, until the home market evolves mainstream

For a private, single use this thing seems to be very impractical (3d printing, assembling) compared to a normal exit bag, and much more expensive. If you had all the other components, why not just use an air-proof tent? Or is there some complicated mechanism involved?

I don't think it's exactly single-use (at least a newer version of it isn't)

It's a lot harder to fuck up, it doubles as a coffin (nobody can really say it left a scarring mess to clean up), and it also looks pretty legitimate and not ghastly and therefore might not trigger as much public outcry and also might soothe people going into their final minutes

I feel like you're also probably less likely to be stopped for this thing

Out of curiosity, how much nitrogen (or helium or argon) would you need for that? I'm not sure the specific amount a sarco would need
