Is there a painless way to ctb that looks like an accident, and ,if it fails, can't cause any brain damage. One of my biggest fears with ctb is that I end up mentally impaired.

I understand. I felt like it was a long shot too. There is no perfect method, every method has its drawbacks
I don't see how a gun could ever fail. Bleeding out in any case. Assuming a "proper" caliber. Maybe a gun nut can chime in.
But that is unavailable in many parts of the earth.
I grew up in rough conditions and can attest to head wounds bleeding like crazy. I just can't see how that would randomly stop bleeding with half your head ripped off.Guns fail more often than kill. You have to hit a vital structure to succeed in immediate death. That is either the brain stem or the heart or the aorta. Very hard to do unless you understand human anatomy. You do not bleed out with a gunshot unless you hit the heart or aorta, even then the blood stays inside the body cavities. If you hit any other part of the brain besides the brain stem, you can live and recover. Many people flinch and shoot their face off. Takes patient research and knowledge to reduce the variables. Check out the gun or firearm megathread.

Or simply a shotgun.
>Had one guy crawling around his garage for three hours with his face gone after a failed gunshot with a 12 gauge.Ah ha, if you blow your brains out you've successfully ctb. If you blow the front part of your face off you'll bleed a lot, it'll be messy, but you'll live for hours. I've treated many GSWs. Had one guy crawling around his garage for three hours with his face gone after a failed gunshot with a 12 gauge. Head wounds do bleed a lot, but it's still too slow to be fatal, your bloods natural clotting ability is to blame here. As soon as your body senses the damage, your blood cells get the signal to start clotting. I did have one old lady die from a nose bleed that lasted for hours because she was on Coumadin (warfarin). If you choose the gun method, it is one of the most successful ways, as long as you follow the advice laid out there by @TiredHorse and aim for the brain stem with a proper caliber.

Thats the holy grail friend. Let me know if you figure it out.Is there a painless way to ctb that looks like an accident, and ,if it fails, can't cause any brain damage. One of my biggest fears with ctb is that I end up mentally impaired.
True enough, if I had the determination to just fall in the local river this time if year 'on a hike' this would be easyPeople die accidentally all the time. I'm still considering hypothermia.
Drunk assholes die all the time after "partying", lying around somewhere in the city in winter. Seems pretty "nice" and looks like an accident. I'd be worried about puking and waking up in the middle though.
Dying and killing is so damn easy, but inducing it in a controlled manner on yourself is not :(
I read over and over that this is pretty fast, but you will not die by hypothermia, but drown. Works, but terrifying and painful. (Although books say drowning isn't that painful, I don't believe that..)True enough, if I had the determination to just fall in the local river this time if year 'on a hike' this would be easy
