Terry Jacks' 1974 hit "Seasons In The Sun" !!!! Both the music and lyrics of the 1974 hit song "Seasons In The Sun" are based on a 1961 French song "Le moribond" by Jacques Brel and in the original 1961 French song, the dying man implies that he is going to commit suicide, partially or entirely due to his wife's infidelity. Terry Jacks' "Seasons In The Sun" lyrics removes mention of a wife's infidelity and suggestions of suicide, but sounds more like someone who is terminally ill and will die soon, although one can very easily interpret "Seasons In The Sun" as a final song before suicide, either due to terminal illness or other despair. As someone who has been fighting painful cancers for years now and I was/am also "the black sheep of the family", I joined this site this year because I am seriously considering ctb via CO-charcoal. And I may listen to "Seasons In The Sun" when I ctb this year in a peaceful act of resignation in life, just like the singing voice and lyrics imply in "Seasons In The Sun":
