Since I always seem to need a reason to psych myself out, now it's time for the anti-e psych out again.

Here's an interesting study from Canada, concerning autopsies of (successful) N suicides, where 8 out of 12 had dyphemhydramine in their system, 3 out of 12 had taken meto and 1 out of 12 had taken ondansetron. But note that they explicitly state in the paper that they didn't check for any and all substances in all of the autopsies, so who knows whether or not the people who took dyphen also took meto or something else.

Edit: The study concerns itself with twenty cases, so in 8 out of the 20, no anti emetics were discovered (or not tested for?)

"In particular, the use of antiemetic or antinausea drugs, which was observed in 12 of 20 cases(...)"

This is a little relieving, since all of them died, and most of them didn't take metoclopramide.

"The importance of limiting its importation into the country was an attempt to both reduce the rate of suicide by this method.... "

That's all we wanted to know, thank you :pfff:

Well, ideology ... people need to live, because,.... I enjoy my life as a well paid scientist so .... how could anyone not want to live .... suicide is bad because .... God doesn't want you to kill yourself! ... suicide is irrational

If they really wanted to reduce the risk of people ctbing with N, they should circulate fake news of failed attempts, not demonstrate it's effectiveness and peacefulness scientifically and even state the sources of information explicitly ^^
No, they think that if people have no access to N, these people won't CTB. They can ban everything and prevent from anything, but they cannot ban Second Newton's Law, ropes, gorilla tape or what's worse - transport...
Edit: thank you for good case reports!

Yes, but AFAIK banning good suicide methods does decrease total suicide numbers. The difference between us and them is that we realize this is an act of cruelty and they think of themselves as humanitarian heroes of some sort.

Not sure about this. In 90s in Post-Soviet Eastern Europe suicide rates were more than 40 per 100,000. There was no such abundance of methods then and for many countries numbers are decreasing nowadays despite having all these substances.

I can't remember where I heard this but I heard that in the UK, when they removed the poisonous element from household gas, suicides plummeted because that used to be a very common and reliable method. So.. people just.. carried on living. :/

I listened to this podcast from a clinical psychologist on suicide, which was 9 hours long and a really good resource - but paywalled sadly. I might upload it somewhere sometime.

It's where I have a lot of this half baked knowledge from. It's purely from a pro-life prevention standpoint, but valuable nonetheless.

Yes, it is possible. Maybe rough estimations, but every theory has the right to exist :)
