A girl doesn't need anyone who doesn't need her

DSC 1124 Was at a train station yesterday and some woman dressed in full Samaritans regalia bounded up to me, smiled and gave me this! There were other items too. I mean I don't know where to even start?! Although there was a slight dark humour to it as yesterday would have been my best (and only true) friends thirty third birthday, brief time we'd be the same age, and a day I'd certainly marked as one to ctb on. I mean 33 was good enough for jesus right? *

What do people think about this sort of stuff being distributed? Guess they mean well but surely this never helps anyone? If anything it makes me personally feel worse! And how unstable would I look if I started keeping my train tickets and bank cards in a wallet with the info for a suicide "helpline" on it!

*disclaimer if I had to assign myself a religion would describe myself as a Pastafarian.

Better them than the Jesus freaks. I'm so tired of seeing Jehovahs Witnesses every where.
I know these people are trying to help others, but it feels like the wrong way to go about it. A ten minute conversation with Peter Anonymous who can't understand what I'm going through and never will isn't what I need.

They do mean well and it may help some but not sure it's making the greatest impact overall. I tried one of these organizations but they fucked me up more than if I hard just not called them at all. I can not recommend one of these organizations again. It's all bullshit in the end anyway.

It would be amazing if there were a benevolent organization that was out there helping people improve their lives instead of just talking them down from this act. Like, some good force solving the problems that caused people to come to this point anyway.

I seriously thought about creating "suicide is cool"-stickers for suicide-prevention posters. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's actually desirable in any way but I would use them as some kind of protest, just to piss the people behind these suicide-prevention campaigns off. I know this sounds edgy as fuck, which surely isn't my intention. But on the other hand, suicide is kinda edgy anyway in a pro-life society like this. Like, I would consider anything edgy that gets you locked up in mental hospitals.

Are you carrying a big sign around with you with a big arrow saying "Suicidal here"?

To just jump out randomly at people and pass something like that to them is a bit much. It almost insinuates the whole damned world must be suicidal. Someone actually came up with the bright idea, "Oh lets go to the train station and give out anti suicide literature as it might prevent someone hurling themselves under a coming train"

And they get paid for it

Yeah it's eventually pretty superficial as they are just treating the symptoms rather than the root causes of suicidal behavior.

How'd they mess you up more??

How would you like to have police called on you without knowing it's being done and then have 6 cars show up. They haul you off to the hospital where you go through a "process" to then have them force you into staying but have no insurance hence getting additional stress put on you with more Bill's to pay and no job. They collar you then let you loose without thinking of the damage they do. Fuckers.

Beware false prophets who come to you dressed in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Matthew 5:15. My sister hates it when I turn her scripture on her. Makes her think. All of her JF friend's won't speak to me anymore except one. A retired Catholic priest who is the nuts to debate religion with.:pfff::pfff:

C'mon, @Alchemist.
"Pro-Choice" is a common denominator for abortion-friendly, and that's long a majority view in the West.
Are you seriously insinuating that it would be in any way problematic to promote sanctioned suicide ?
That sounds to me like the misunderstanding - or the hypocrisy - of the day.
Man up and promote it, and you will no doubt succeed on pain of losing some victim status.
It's totally a suppressed-minority issue.
I cannot see how a prohibition to exit life freely could possibly be defended in today's social justice atmosphere.
If this isn't public, wtf is it ?

Christians get so worked up about the Bible when you point out all the inconsistencies. I got into a full-in argument with a JW once when she came up to me to try to convert as I was sobbing on the street. Ravenous wolves, indeed.

Still, I have the distinct feeling you'll be nostalgic about them once the Muslims really settlle in.

I understand your frustration - my experiences with the suicide hotline haven't been that great either, so I'm doubtful about this one as well. However at least people are looking out for each other a little bit, right? That's a nice thing to see. Though it probably won't help anyone, at least people are trying to help each other.

I think they are just virtue signaling and parroting off what society thinks about suicidal people. In short, I don't think it would help people like "us" here that much as we already know our decision and in fact, they have a pro-life, anti-suicide stance on things, which goes AGAINST the idea of pro-choice for life and death.

The man just trying not to have too much trouble in his work. You can't blame him for this.

I'd buy a hundred of them. And ads would be fun "Doctors hate this secret to have peace .For a price only as low as your life.". And we would not have to deal with hipster saying "I committed suicide before it was cool". Great idea.
