I plan to ctb in the next week or so, and plan to do it via partially suspended hanging. The way I intend to do it is by laying in a diagonal position, sitting up, and essentially sitting and dying, while not obviously touching the ground. I will be using a neck tie that I have, and a simple noose for my neck, and a clove hitch to connect the tie to my closest shelf (which I've tested to be sturdy enough). I've read most of the hanging resources here, but they aren't specific enough to what I'm doing, and I could use all the help I can get on here. If anyone has any tips that could make it more painless, more quick, or overall critique my method and suggest a better hanging strategy, please do. I'm all ears.

It seems ok to me, you can always test partial by holding other end with hand. I will gladly help however i can as i had couple attempts, so feel free to just ask

I've seen a lot of different answers regarding blackout time. If I'm doing this first time, seriously, not coming back, how should I position the noose, how long will it take, and how does it feel, pain-wise?

Find your sweet spot or you will give up in partial due to discomfort. You can pad it too for comfort. I had hard time in the begining but as i found the spot, blackout was coming in 5 to 15 sec, i wouldnt even notice it. I always counted in my head. I never go too far. I felt 0 pain during the whole partial process, just rope discomfort, can breath easily. Waking up from it is not so pleasant cuz of convulsions and confusion

Any suggestions for finding the sweet spot?

I tied rope in U shape with no knot and leaned on it over and over, spasticaly moving rope up and down my neck switching spot if it didnt work. After some time i found it and i felt relieved. Memorised the spot and suceeded to blackout every time.

Basicaly it takes time, determination and alot of patience. Btw i still cant do anything to carotids with my hands, but leaning in ligature works fast and easy for me

Good to know, thanks. If it's alright, may I ask why you've only attempted it? Seems like you know what you are doing.

We're those the times you passed out and woke up convulsing? Or was that later during attempts with the rope knotted and tied off?

I convulsed on every atempt blacked out on almost all of them

I didnt only attempt. Every time was a real deal ready to go with suicide notes ready. My body chose oposite, so in any partial position it would stand straight back up after a minute while im unconciouss. Tried full suspension but foot found obstacle to push on so i woke up confused and failed

Ah, I see. Any other tips for the partial suspension? I really just want to get this done and over with as soon as possible. Life has not treated me kindly in the past while.

It might not work on first atempt. Maybe youll be lucky. If your body shifts in a way that loosens your noose or as in my case just plain stands up, you will regain air, conciousness and fail. Test only if youre really ready to go, as my attempts were always real, not practice. If you notice youre failing like i did, then you should probably consider full suspension or different method completely

Is it possible that the body can save itself after a longer time when the brain has already been damaged?

No, if your body save itself it means brain is still fine and functional, and its usualy preety fast as well. If it takes longer you would most likely be already brain dead due to lack of oxygen, convulsions stop eventualy too
