Hi all!
Can anybody tell me if I can use the betablocker metoprolol instead of propranolol as I have the first one at home.
Thx Olav

I don't see why not.. Propanolol is supposed to be more known for combating irregular heart rhythms but I would imagine that difference will be minimal when you're in a state of prolonged tachycardia. I'd still say propanolol would be better if you could get your hands on it, but overall I doubt it'll make too much of a difference

To jump on this, if you're planning to take propranolol (I have 10mg tablets) is it best to take one at the same time as the sedative; an hour before drinking the SN?

But there's also a version where they mix it with sn.
In the most latest edition of the PPEH propranolol isn't even recommended anymore so I wouldn't stress much.

I think the use of a negative inotropic agent with SN slows down the conversion process to methemoglobin. The reason may be slower blood circulation. Although the tachycardia is uncomfortable, it may shorten the time to unconsciousness.
