Hi.

I have severe tinnitus, and depression caused by having tinnitus. Tinnitus is the main reason why I want cbt.

I want to try the SN method, but I'm afraid and wondering what happens with my tinnitus if the attempt fails. I am afraid that my tinnitus may get worse if I fail.

I read in this forum that after a failed attempt by hanging, his tinnitus got worse, it became much louder and more horrible.

I am very afraid that SN can do permanent damage to my brain / ears and that if I fail my attempt, my tinnitus gets worse.

I afraid that I may end up with permanent brain/physical damage. I just want assurances that if I vomit and survive I can ride out the worsen symptoms and don't end up with any permanent damage and louder tinnitus.

Does anyone have any information about this?

Thanks you and sorry for my broken english.

Your English is fine. From my readings here, SN doesn't cause brain damage.

Nobody can assure you that you will not have any permanent damage after trying to harm yourself and failing to die. If anybody does assure you, they are wrong to be doing that. You know that you would be trying to do so much damage to yourself that it kills you, but you want to be assured that no permanent damage is done. Does that seem logical to you? Does that make sense? If any brain damage does occur, it might not be visible or obvious.

Greetings. I'm sorry to hear about your tinnitus. Some people say that sn is safer upon failure because of how it works and how it can be reversed. However, as previously commented, nothing in a CTB attempt should be considered safe. As for hanging, there is a lot that can permanently injure you. A frequent issue reported is blocked jugulars, without blocked carotids, which causes increased pressure in your head. This can cause assorted temporary and permanent problems, including tinnitus.

Hello Angelus Errare. Thanks for your kindness.

I want to wait a few more months and try a new treatment to try to get rid of this horrible beast called tinnitus.

If the treatment does not work, I am prepared for CBT. This is the decision I have made. So for now I am collecting information. Although it is hard for me to go through the days and stay in this world suffering this much.

I am a heavy benzo user now due to the tinnitus. Tinnitus ruinned my entire life.

I'm so sorry for the rant.

I acquired tinnitus by listening to very loud music for long periods of time.

I acquired tinnitus pretty much the same way. I listened to music very loudly but only affects my left ear. Some days i can go hours without hearing it and others day its roaring. Some ways i kind of alleviate it is by drinking lots of caffeine, grabbing my ear lobe and kind of gently pulling on it at different directions. Also tried some pills from amazon that seem to work pretty well.

Whatever you decide to do i hope you find peace. take care.

Have you tried seeing an ENT/audiologist? Because a hearing aid may be able counter the sound with white noise and apparently there's also some other methods. Not sure how well they work though.

Anyway, tinnitus is utter crap and I do feel your pain, but it's not something which incapacitates you in regards to killing yourself. What I mean to say is, I don't quite understand why you're worried about louder tinnitus following a failed attempt? If you were to get brain damage from hanging for instance, it could very well hinder you from trying again. Brain damage from an SN attempt otoh is apparently not quite as common, or so they say, although it's probably possible at a certain point. Louder tinnitus though, while nerve racking, shouldn't be a hindrance at all.

I'm not sure if you know what caused you to have tinnitus but I had to learn how to cure myself of a condition (Mdds) that was partly caused by inner ear nerve damage from mercury. I don't know if what I did could possibly help your tinnitus but it might be worth a try if you consider it.

If you want more info you can private message me or on here is fine too. It basically involves stimulating the nerves on the bottom of your feet using either shoe inserts, or you could even create your own, or special sandals that are meant to massage the bottom of your feet. Basically what it does is it send strong signals to your brain and your nervous system for balance, but a lot of times a positive side effect is that it cures tinnitus.

I had tinnitus ear ringing fairly bad for months so i sympathize.

If you want more details, just let me know.

Personally, I wouldn't go with hanging from my limited knowledge... At least for me, I'd be too scared of accidentally paralyzing myself with a major nerves being in the neck region or even breaking my neck and then living through it. Knowing my luck anyway.

That's a sad picture, I hope that wasn't you? It looks really scary.

I have it too. I've had it for over 25 years. I played in a band for a long time and worked construction and by the time i started using hearing protection it was to late. I don't know what silence is.

There are now several companies that make hearing aids that cancel tinnitus. Looking into that would be my first suggestion. The above listed link is just one of those companies.

---regarding sn---

There are so many questions regarding SN. So many unknowns, even though its clearly lethal, its not always clear what happens if you survive but havent been found for a while... i suppose anytime you remove oxygen from your body regardless of the method, there is always the chance of brain damage but not dying... but this is possible with almost every method.

The Brain Damage / Survival topic comes up so often, i think it is what everyone fears, and yet no one can actually give a definitive answer. There is always going to be some chance of failure with lasting after effects.

Hey, I also have tinnitus, high-frequency hearing loss and vertigo, because doctor ignored my ears infection. Since that time I have depression and anhedonia. In my case, these issues are incurable and are my reasons to ctb. I hope that treatment will help you.

There is bi-modal stimulation treatment for Tinnitus sufferers.
There will potentially be ear hair cell regeneration, that will treat hearing loss and Tinnitus.

I have a worsening Mild-Tinnitus, and I hate that there is no cure, but at the same time, I don't know if a cure will ever happen. It's hard to make suicide, but it's easy to do activities that will help me in dying young, so I will probably go down that route, if things don't improve.
