It's impractical. You can go hours without dying without cutting the right vein. It attracts a lot of attention (blood pouring out of a room unless you're in a tub or something). And on top of that its incredibly painful

I knew someone who did this in the psych ward. Not to be too graphic but yes it stings like hell just getting close to an artery , i cant imagine cutting thrugh one.. from there, there's a huge mess. Blood was spurting everywhere. Even the lady who did it became scared (she was eventually successful by hanging) but she herself regretted trying to cut her wrists to CTB.
Unless you had a surgical tool to do it with and/or anesthetic it is painful and v v v messy, I personally wouldn't go down this route. She ended up being rushed for surgery and damaged her tendons, so couldn't move her hand and feel her arm afterwards. I'm not trying to put anyone off it just thought it was worth sharing.

I'm cringing reading this. Thank you for sharing this story. I wasn't planning on using this method, but it's very insightful. It's the method used in 13 Reasons Why and it had parents freaking out over it and everything. The way that show made it seem like it was easy to kill yourself with this method.

Hugs, you're welcome I agree. It's not that easy :( It was horrific. There was blood all over the place i mean we know that but movies make it seem like some will just slowly seep out as someone lays in a bathrub. It doesn't, it squirts all over the place and floods wherever the person is, it's got to be anxiety provoking to say the least

Probably best if you do actually, cause even if it somehow wasn't extremely painful and messy it's extremely unreliable. There's a pretty good reason I think this forum doesn't discuss it and it's usually just a cry for help or a suicidal gesture.

I've known people who did this because the pain made them Feel something.
Not speaking about them but if You have the courage to slice your wrist You might as well just stab the knife in your Arm & cut it completely open going down(I plan on doing this before hanging).

Lena you'll find there are a few people who discuss painful methods but mostly people are focused on finding a peaceful and reliable way with as little pain as possible.

I've known people who have done this over the Years.
I knew this Girl a few Years ago & she was cutting Herself in My shower(Not Suicidal, I don't know why she was doing it) I took the Razor away & threw her out my house b/c I was tripped out by it at the time, looking back I wish I would've asked her to Cut Me
A kitchen knife. Been doing it since around october last year. I've always hated that people cut themselves growing up until I tried it, now I understand.

Problems with people, also being forced by job agencies to go far and wide for job interviews and internships it was too much for me at the time. And also my greedy mum taking everg last penny i have after i get paid, if i dont give her all my money she will kick me out the house and i cant afford rent on my own. I never get to buy myself anything I'm just being a wage slave for her happiness.

If You travel for Your Job couldn't You collect a Paycheck without Her knowing & buy yourself something Nice Maybe?
I work locally now and she drives me there and picks me up, i also get paid at night time so shes always asking when its in. She also holds my card.

So getting paid without Her knowing isn't an option for you?
If she is taking it and it's helping your family out I don't think that's a bad thing but if she is just spending it on herself then I would be frustrated like You

She spends it on her gambling addiction and her expensive hairdos and fashion. It's only me and her, we only spend around 100 on food the rest gods to waste. And yes she does know I'm cutting she doesnt care
Cutting the wrists is not a very successful method of suicide, although films and TV make it look like it is. Major blood vessels are hard to get to: you would have to cut through muscle, tendons etc to get to them and if you did that right you wouldn't really be able to do it on both wrists. The blood vessels might also contract as the body goes into survival mode. If you survived ( which is most likely) you might need surgery to restore function to the hand. Ive self harmed by cutting for nearly 40 years and I would not used this method of suicide.
