Discussion Should I feel bad?

Bought some rope from Home Depot as a backup. They sell it by the foot and I had to ask for help getting a length cut. Part of me wondered how the guy would feel if he found out what I wanted it for.

I wouldn't worry, it's just a job for them. If you'd ordered it online do you think the delivery driver would think twice about what was in your parcel?

Honestly, I'm sure delivery drivers do wonder sometimes. It's human nature to be curious. My question wasn't about that though, it was more about how they would feel if they found out later that the rope they helped me with was used in my suicide.

You'll never know for sure but if I was in their shoes it might shock me a little to find out but I don't think I'd lose sleep over it. They probably served a dozen other people that day who wanted rope for innocuous reasons how would they have been able to except anything else from you? People who work in gun shops don't have mental breakdowns every time someone dies as a result of their sales.
I also used to be a delivery driver in a poor area of the city I worked in and I'm sure I delivered a significant amount of illicit goods every day but I hardly wondered about what might be in the packages. I was just doing my job and it wasn't my responsibility to worry about what people were doing with the things I gave them.

Some wouldn't really care (shocker, right? ). I personally would feel awful. I think something like this would stay with me for the rest of my short (hopefully) life.

I failed before i began. I didn't buy a long enough rope. I only asked for 6 feet. I thought it would be enough, but the beam i tried to tie it to was too thick and it didn't leave me enough room to stick my head through.

If I was in that situation, I would not feel bad. I do think it could stay with them, if they knew that they sold you the rope for that purpose. However society denies us peaceful methods and a right to die so we have to resort to using these methods in order to be free of of our suffering. There is too much stigma towards suicide.
