One of the main reasons I havent ctb yet, is because I have an old dog.
Weve been together 11 years.
Shes totally dependent on me and has major seperation issues.
When I leave the house she scratches herself until she bleeds, frets, cries, paces, and causes a general riot.
When I ctb, if she is still alive, my family will put her down.
I feel like my death is my own choice, but what about hers?
Shes still spry for 13.
She gets up steps fine, jumps, runs, and gets around great.
I feel like I would be ending my life with dignity, but murdering her.
Anyone else have the shared "life" conundrum?

Maybe you've got more time left then. I used to like pets when I was a kid. I have soured to the point now where I can't stand their barking and bumming for food. Their physical approach. Anything that physically approaches me, I hate.

Maybe you have to get more sour or what if you're in line to still live a long, full life? I guess that's what brings us back here, wondering about it.

Id prefer to ctb beforw the coming New Year.
Animals have never hurt me the way people have.
So, I have an odd understanding and relationship with animals.
I understand their "rules", if thats a word I can use to describe their behavior in packs or alone.
Id love if someone were brave enough to take her and promise to let her live (and honor that promise) if I were to show up at their door and say "Todays the day!"

She is old though......and smells like an old person. That is one drawback.

There's no way to trust anybody with it. Probably will have to stick it out to be sure.

That may be something to point to and say that's when I'll decide to leave. Like now that my mom died this year, I feel like I have more permission than I've ever had to do it. Still have this job, but more and more I kind of see that they may be better off if I was dead. That's even more permission if I can convince myself completely that it's true.

If I could get fired.

I've to agree with George here. Given how old she is, most people can't be trusted with her. Animals are good, I love dogs.

That is why I do not have a pet. Who would look after them when I am gone?

I don't think you would be murdering her by ctb, because there are many no-kill shelters and you can specify in your suicide note that you'd like for her to be put in a shelter in adoption.

However, the fact your dog loves you so much would seem to be more of an issue if she was left without you. She may have PTSD/depression (dogs can have that too). How long have you been able to leave her with your family by herself and was she okay with it?

I swear she has that mediciney old person smell. Its a dog smell, but combined with sensitive skin dog shampoo it smells like a medicine cabinet...or Bengay.
