throughout my life, Ive dealt with plenty of narcissists, and just generally problematic people with a low self-esteem and a nasty habit of lashing out.
recently Ive been seeing a lot of these movies where relationships and family are usually portrayed as perfect, but everyone whos ever felt an ounce of love, anger or jealousy knows its never been that simple in reality. most people are out there, living life, while the rest of us are left to deal with feelings of abandonment or hate and spend most our time dealing with the chaos just trying to get used to it (pretty much all we can do, we cant control the way the people around us act or the way the world turns.)
but while your ego exists, you are the main character of your own story, and you can do your best to change the way you feel about things, so when it comes down to it, the people that start rumors about you or say things behind your back. Its only to make themselves look better, their self-esteem is so low, they have to make others look bad to make themselves look better. so really, those are the people you shouldn't be concerned about. honestly, I try to empathize and pity them. but after dealing with those people and situations like that too often, you get a bit paranoid, it seems like people are saying things even when they're not, but you have to try and realize, most people with a genuine feeling of self-importance aren't saying bad things about anyone, they're too busy enjoying life, because they care about themselves. they don't have a need to hurt anyone. so having self-importance isn't bad, its how we all should be.
