I need some fir background to keep me going.

Just finished Other Life and loved it but now I can't seem to find another.

Sirry, it needs to be in English since I can't do subtitles as background. (All the best stuff seems to be in other languages.)

Thanks!

I don't know if it's on Netflix, but I watched a German sci-fi series called Dark and it was above average.

I am a sci-fi afficionado.

Have you seen all the Star Trek series? Not your cup of tea, perhaps?

That's not a bad job! I'd switch with you any time. Who's the captain on your particular USS Enterprise?

Jean-Luc Picard, the man with the book.
What book you might ask? Why... Moby Dick, of course. He's always quoting from it in the series :-) It's one of the things that makes him such a sweet nerd.

Sadly I have memorized them. :-)
Altered Carbon.
I watched it but I need to do it again when I can focus on it. Was running in and out and lost the thread somewhere along the way. Looked excellent.
Are you also a trekkie? :smiling:
Yes. My friends and I say all of life can be explained in a Star Trek episode. Lol.
I like Stranger Things, Haunting of Hill House, Black Mirror, American Horror Story, Bates Motel on Netflix.

X-files used to be on Netflix, but they took it down a couple of months ago, still available on Hulu though. My favorite show.

Good sci-fi movies on Netflix: Inception, Godzilla, Cloverfield
Inception is one of my top 5 movies. It's another one that I want to be able to focus on. I use it un analogies all the time.

Have you seen Looper? Another good movie on space/time /perception.

Nice to meet another fan. :)

Ah, the best captain of them all! (Not the best series, though. That's DS-9 and always will be. :P) I actually have a simple Star Trek outfit I put on when I go to work on the 5th of April, First Contact Day. One year I forgot that I had a meeting with a pupil's parents that day. Surprisingly, they didn't react at all. Maybe they were trekkers too?

For a trekker like yours truly, this has a strangely calming effect when I'm stressed out:

When I worked for a financial services firm we quoted the Rules of Acquisition all the time.

Ha ha! That's priceless!

Dax: As the 34th Rule of Acquisition states, "Peace is good for business".

Quark: That's the 35th Rule.

Dax: Oh, you're right. What's the 34th?

Quark: "War is good for business". It's easy to get them confused.

Helix was off to a promising start, but ended up being all about mindless blodshed. A big disappoinment. They ran out of ideas after the first season.

They didn't have good ratings, so the last episodes are a mess. You can tell the directors were desperately trying to tie all the loose ends.

It's one of the few things I've been able to invest in enough to see it through to it's conclusion. It's really hard for me these days so it says something about it's quality
