I'm not going to lecture you or anything of the sort.
But, there is hope and recovery is possible.
I have schizoaffective disorder (schizophrenia with a mood disorder (bi-polar)) and I want you to know that if you are on the proper meds, they can make a positive difference in your mood, delusions, and hallucinations.
Some small things to help you on your journey:
Don't take any drugs or alcohol to self-medicate.
Eat healthy foods (lots of fruit and vegetables).
Get plenty of sleep (at least 8 hours a night).
Drink lots of water instead of drinks with empty calories, or diet sodas.
Take time to take care of yourself by listening to positive uplifting music and podcasts. Avoid violent or disturbing media.
Find a hobby that will occupy your time and one that is positive.
If you have pets, make sure you give them lots of love and attention as this will increase dopamine levels.
Avoid TikTok and Instagram as social media can negatively impact your mental health and decrease dopamine levels.
Go for small walks and reflect on what's good in life.
Journal or write your feelings down so you can have a positive outlet to express yourself.
If anyone else has anything else to add to this list, please do! Thanks! :)
