I'm scared witless that the other side contains something far worse. I don't want to be here anymore, but I don't want to find a permanent somewhere that is worse. ;-;

i've thought about this a lot myself, but something I try to remember (I don't remember where I first saw this) is that since we have no knowledge or remembrance of the time before we were born, it will be the same way after we die.

I know, that's why I'm still here. It's going to be a really tough 30+ years if I stay, but I keep thinking how bad it could be eternally if I do it.

Although if there is an afterlife with some kind of God, I would think they would take into account the physical/mental suffering that led to this. I really hope there is if I'm going to torture myself and stick around. But I guess I won't know anyway if there's just nothing. It's the craziest thing about life, the one thing we can't really analyze because absolutely nobody knows.

There's no evidence of an afterlife, so I don't fear it. Yet I doubt there's anything worse than this world.

I think Hell is on Earth. I don't believe in any permanent Hell or punishment after we die. Our suffering on Earth is Hell. I don't see why, if there is a God, why they would punish someone for ending their suffering, by making them suffer permanently for a life that was only temporary anyways.

I don't believe in any life after death. But there is no worse place than then where we are now, any place (even hell if it existed) is much better than this world because we no longer have these shit bodies and all their sensations. The physical worlds is the worst that can exist at all.

Yea even though I don't believe in all that stuff, I still find the thought crossing my mind that maybe there's another Hell waiting for me besides life.
Mostly I imagine having to look like this and live like this forever, in a place where noone can die.

Huh whether you do this now or later youre going to get to that place which is worse than here. By your logic it will be better if we get there as soon as possible. Living for another 30 years unhappily. Then die go to somewhere worse. You just wasted 30 years for nothing.

There is such a trick - to imagine that we are in a virtual simulation or video game, as in the "Matrix". In this case, we and this whole world are digital, this is just 1 and 0. No one will punish you for killing yourself in the GTA 5, no one punishes you for crimes committed in games.

It's funny really; I've often heard of materialists who are afraid at the thought of there being an afterlife. My only fear ever was that there might not be one... which I've now thankfully defeated, as I've put enough effort into both research and piecing things together on my own to say with certainty there is no such thing as nothingness after the body dies.

To everyone concerned about what comes after, I can only say this, and I hope enough people read it and pass it on: If you feel you need to make things right toward someone you have wronged, or have any other unfinished business to take care of first, pick your moment later so you have time to deal with that. When the time comes to end your life, do so without holding any grudges or thoughts of revenge or anything of that sort toward anyone! I believe those things can hold you back, and if you leave with too much unfinished business you might end up back here possibly in a worse off life.

I don't yet know if it's yourself or someone else who may judge you after it happens, but do believe suicide is generally frowned upon even by those beyond. Once it happens, we may have to explain that we had a good reason to do it, and prove that we've done our best to leave everything behind us in the best condition.

This really worries me and gives me huge anxiety tbh.

I believe there's something what I'm unsure of it, sounds silly but like my family have been to a lot of mediums and there's stuff they couldn't know unless they could speak to the person.

Brian Weiss' own studies align with this, but if we're meant to stay, there need to be more indications. it's very well that we can be condemned by a higher spiritual order when death has happened, the same order that gave us not one clue earlier that we should've chosen to live instead.

Can this be a motivating reason for you to keep going? To keep living, I mean?

I'd say the majority of us here are embittered, nihilistic freaks, so if nothing matters anyways and we're all gonna die, we might as well laugh and do cool shit while we have the chance, right?

Especially if there's some crazy things on the other side, I don't know... Or just nothing. THAT's what spooks me. What if the afterlife is nothing? What if the nothingness would be SO painfully boring that we just float around, existing in a state of inexorable regret forever, for not doing SOMETHING on earth?

Just thoughts. Much love.

Nothing wouldn't be a bother. I don't think we'd even be regretting in nothing. Something terrifying is suffering further in another place, having the moment of departure be waking up somewhere else.

It feels like this is hell. Just look at the state of this world. When you think about it ww2 was only a life time ago. This world is brutal.

That's the basis of the "to be, or not to be" soliloquy. Even at school, every word of that made more sense than anything else I had ever read, and I still know it off the top of my head. My worry isn't so much an afterlife, but a reincarnation in a "worse" life during some terrible time or place in history, or the future. I could ctb from this life, leave this loving family, physical comfort, abundance of food, etc etc because of my fucked up brain (which has fucked up my body), and end up where? The dark ages? Unit 731? The Black Plague? A slave? It's all highly unlikely, but you never know, and I have a phat history of making shit a whole lot worse for myself.

There no afterlife. I remember read a news a long long time ago about a 7 year olds who committed suicide by ran in front of a approaching train railroad track on her way going to school (her sibling wasn't able to pull her back), just so she can be with her dead mother.

IF there afterlife, meaning there spirit, then this spirit of the mother will somehow make the train slower down or make a wind or whatever to help her poor 7 year olds daughter, guess what? Nothing. The 7 year old girl was pronounce dead on scene before even take to hospital.

I read this news a long time ago, but it stuck stick in my head due to this prove to me, there no such thing as afterlife or spirit.
Sorry, but dead is the end, there nothing on the other side.

I think there may not be a heaven or hell but a sort of purgatory when we die. I still remember what I saw when I had my NDE. I tried to off myself by OD on pills. During the time I was unconscious and stopped breathing all I could see was darkness.

There is no afterlife, at least not the kind that religious people tend to think about. Your self/ego is tied to the neurons in your brain. If those are destroyed bit by bit, you lose wide swathes of your memories, personality, etc. How can a full ego persist after death if it can't even persist in life? Dead neurons= no ego.

I think that consciousness can persist after death and likely does, but it has to be independent of the ego (so it's like waking up for the first time, with no emotional baggage/memories from the previous life whatsoever). This 'reincarnation' is probably random. I doubt an organism's actions have any influence on which life it will next be conscious of, as 'good' and 'evil', 'right' and 'wrong' are just human social constructs.

There may not be an afterlife either way, but I don't think things are as simple as our human construct of "science". I personally think there is something but can understand the very obvious arguments against it.

Even with science, there is so much that's unexplained. The only question is if all of that will ever be answered to us or for human life, it is just a one and done deal. But I'm definitely a believer that somewhere out there, there are many different kinds of worlds and life that we have no idea about, and may not even be able to comprehend. Maybe we go on to see things like that, or maybe we're so incredibly insignificant in the grand scheme of things that we're like ants to those beings.

Again we may never find out the answers to this, but I'd be incredibly shocked if we somehow found out this world of ours is absolutely it from the start of eternity.
