Hi Guys.
I'm locked in a psych ward.
How much salt water solution would it take to kill someone who is 79kg 5'3 female?.
Please.. i know this may be a stupid question but desperate times... call for desperate measures. I ordered SN and it hasn't arrived. Messaged the seller to ask but things are getting bad quickly. I have some salt, and I know this method isnt the best but I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm on low observation and allowed out by myself for one hour a day. I have a small window of time to do something with what I have. Any ideas?. I read 7-8 litres for an adult male.

Hi. I don't know much on this method so I can't really help. I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're in the hospital and I hope you feel better soon.

You will likely vomit before you come close to a lethal dose.

Ugh. CTB by murdering your kidneys sounds ugly. Unreliable, too. Keep in mind, that 7-8 liters is seawater, and seawater has extraordinarily high salinity. It's something like 3x more salt than the standard saline solution they use in the ER. The only reason you can swallow it when you go swimming is that it makes you thirsty enough to drink fresh water to flush it out of your system as soon as you get a chance. You'd need gallons of water and buckets of grocery store salt to die -- and the world's strongest stomach. You wouldn't get far before you'd barf, with or without antiemetics, and then you'd get really, really sick, go to the hospital, and live to try again. Assuming you don't have to spend all your time at dialysis appointments. I'd pass on this one.

I've noticed that people outside the US sometimes get to keep their phones. From what I gather on here.

If it fails then you risk the chance of being locked in there longer. Do you know when you're getting out?
I don't know how much you weigh because we go by pounds in America. And I can't believe they give you access to your phone.

Yes, this is what I've seen here over the months. Some places let you keep your phone, others don't. In the US it's mostly driven by HIPAA and privacy issues: hospitals don't want you to have a camera. Privacy matters everywhere, but it's codified in US law in a way that creates huge liability for hospitals that aren't careful. But the rules vary here, too. I've been in settings where you can't have dental floss and I've been in settings where they gently remind you to leave other patients out of your group-therapy selfies.

This isn't salt water, but it may give you a starting point for research. I read a report about a kid who overdosed on a quart of soy sauce. I thought it was a joke, but it wasn't. Anyway, he wasn't attempting suicide and was saved, but they said he almost died. It was due to the sodium content. I think it said there's almost half a pound of salt in a quart of soy sauce. That's a lot of freaking salt, and I don't know how you could obtain anywhere close in a hospital environment.

Aside from that, it sounded like a very painful way to die. He suffered, and it took over 5 hours to dilute the salt levels in his body.

Please be careful. A dear friend of mine from here who is currently in Psych has gotten her stay extended due to a failed attempt while in there.

Regarding soy sauce, I saw an article probably a few months ago now about a soy sauce diet. 2 litres of soy sauce, and after an agonising number of days, the person eventually died.

If it was as me, I'd play the psych game, say the right things, do the right things, get out, and if you are still wanting to proceed at that point, plan it properly. I think I'd rather toss myself in front of a train than poison my body in a not-guaranteed and agonising way.

I know being in a psych ward is really difficult, I've been there, but be careful because usually if they found out that you're planing something they can prolong your stay and became more strict with the things that you can do. I recommend acting that your are fine and that sort of things, I know is difficult and a burden but that way you can be released more easily and then you can plan everything properly without risking

Also, they usually like to see you socialize, so maybe find some suicidal people in there you can connect to. They're like real life versions of us. I've never made a lasting relationship but I've had friends while I was there. Is this your first time in the hospital?

This isn't a good idea, don't do it. You have too much risk of getting caught. Why now, anyway?

When I was in the hospital a few months back, we didn't have access to shit except for coloring sheets, shitty romance novels, and an infinite amount of salt packets just out in the common area.

I def don't reccommend this method for OP, because they're likely to puke everything up. BUT ya never know what's out and about in the psychward.

I don't think salt water will work anyway. Like others said, don't do anything while inside, you probably will get caught, then you have to stay even longer.

I'm on my visit home and my SN just came!!!!! no more salt water. Sodium Nitrite will do the job nicely. Now i just need to figure out how to work around it

Why wouldnt you just hang yourself with bedsheets
That method sounds so unnecessarily painful
I would wait till I get released before doing anything, anyway. I have quite a bit of experience with being tied up in 4 point restrains for 24 hours and injected with haloperidol + having my privileges taken away and my stay extended as a punishment for failed suicide attempts. Im pretty sure its not what you want to achieve
