The only thing keeping me from homelessness is my mom, I generate literally no value and can't seem to get anything done no matter how much time I spend trying to focus on tasks.
The main reason for this is my employment history: I had one job at age 18-19 with no customer service experience was laid off, couldn't find a job for 1.7 years and am now severely lacking in both work experience and educational credentials

With all due respect and nothing personal, but I don't really believe in the typical 'I can't find a job' argument. Definitely not at your age. With older people it's a real problem.

There are always jobs. Even for people without experience or skills. You just have to put a lot of effort in to get one and not have high expectations.

I do get it though. Those jobs will usually kill you even more on the inside, but that's how life works for everyone. So many people hate their jobs.

Depending on the area you live in it is still hard to find a job. Let alone find a job that suits your disability needs. The UK is a shitter for this. I'm on disability benefits because of my mental health. If employers were more flexible and there was less stigma around mental health, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to work or still be in my job. But with the stigma and discrimination in employment I experienced in my last two jobs, it has made my health worse and not knowing at the time I could have taken my last two positions to employment tribunals. It is difficult and I totally understand. But also try not to get into the benefit trap. On benefits and struggling to get back to work due to our shit minimum wage........it's frustrating and I totally understand. Try and find something while you have the support of your family as doing it alone is a lot harder x Good luck x

It helps to plan a path .

I did fifteen years ago.

I was locked into a trade I hated .
(sure I was 'working' but I had to get out ... I was a contractor and suicidal ( as per ) and couldn't get my shit together,

So I went deep deep deeep into my discomfort zone .
( But I had a PLAN that made it bearable ... that is the point . )

I went from working alone in a work shop , and occasionally with an odd 'client' in their workshop.

It was a very 'soft' industry ...

So ... wildly I went to the port and started unloading fishing boats.
It was living hell , with bigotry , racism ,bullying.
These folk are criminals and damaged .
This is the LOWEST rung on the ladder .
Only muscle matters .

The plan was to 'get fit' and then try and get a laboring job in construction .

I got the laboring job and finally got an apprenticeship.
At forty .

I fucked it all up ... but got some skills.
( It was all leading to a Phoenix rising rebirth as an Architect ... ( I'm an Ayn Rand Cult victim I guess ha ha )
The point is ... I got out of my dead end "bad choice" job and moved into another industry .

I'm not playing the holier than thou card as I am EXACTLY BACK WHERE I WAS THEN !!!!!
( actually further behind in some ways ... but I'm not admitting it to myself .)
That's why I responded to your post .

I'm 55 , no recent employer ... tatty CV .. Christ , I wouldn't employ me .

But I have to just get a new plan I guess ....
And I'm reminding myself , via your post , ( thanks ) that I need to cook up another dream .
Or re-engage with one ... whatevs.

start small and achievable and tiny tiny and out of the box ... and with a "dream" reason ...
something you would like to do that seems out of reach at the moment .

Sorry if this is insensitive and boomer BS ... it certainly isn't meant that way .

More people would be working if there was no min wage I guess. Minimum wage sucks because not everyone is worth the starting wage in productivity especially at the beginning of the job. What happens is the employer is forced to start everybody at the same wage even if some people are better employees than others. Naturally this isn't fair and it effects u especially if u aren't the best employee u might get dicked around more till u quit or they fire u. Many people don't know that the min wage is not actually there to help people, I forgot what the real reason is but it's not in the interest of the working people it's there as a barrier for working people.
