I'm new here and grateful for this supportive and helpful community. <3

Today I bought a small disposable charcoal barbeque. When the time comes, I'll light the coals, put it on the back floor of my car and lie down on the back seat.
I have the sleeping bag and matches in my car ready to go (although it will probably get very warm so I might not use the sleeping bag). I'll put towels on the windows so no one can see in (except through the back) and obviously lock the doors.
Initially I tried cutting and then moved on to partial suspension, tried that a number of times with no luck. I'm elated and relieved to have found my method. All I need now is somewhere to drive to on the night... I can't use the driveway where I live, or the street. Maybe a quiet carpark (next to a sports field maybe) or a camping spot.
The police are everywhere right now upholding the stay inside rules, but if I can do it quickly enough I should be left alone.

Just wanted to write this out, thanks for reading.

The charcoal method if done correctly seems incredibly peaceful. Someone posted pics here once of people found after this method and it looked like they just fell asleep. If you are 100% going through with this, please consider all other options for staying first. Death is permanent and the damage to those around you will be done. If you have already thought of that though, then I wish you peace with your decision. This forum is still here if you have any other thoughts you want to share, or just need a listening ear. I'm here and you can private message me if you like.

Sounds straightforward enough, I haven't given a lot of thought to this method because I wouldn't really have anywhere to carry it out.

I suggest you thoroughly read the CO megathread and use the site search for charcoal to read what others have done and suggested.

The biggest problem in your method is lighting the charcoals inside the car. You will not be able to handle the smoke. Charcoals release more CO after they have turned ashy on the outside. Cooled charcoal can emit CO for over 2 hours (see the megathread for how long), a reason why some people die after bringing a cooled barbecue into the tent.

Good point! Thank you.
