Reading the book she wrote

My wife wrote a book and had it published earlier this year. I had an idea about a serial killer after listening to a song and she took the idea and ran with it. We were driving one day and a song came on that made me think of a serial killer dancing around listening to music as he prepares for his kill. She loved the idea and we spent the car ride spitballing ideas. It turns out she was so taken with the idea that she wanted to write a book about it.

I was kind of hurt because the idea started with me and I didn't feel like it mattered where it came from. She bought a computer and started writing the book. Unfortunately I wasn't very supportive of the idea. There are a few copies here that she left and I feel I should take some of my last weeks to try and appreciate the work she put in on it.

So far I've read 15 pages and it is very moving to me. She took my original idea and created something so beautiful. A story of a gay serial killer finding love and how he struggles with his love finding out about his secret. When I finish I plan on calling her and telling her my thoughts and how proud I am of what she made. I failed to do so before. There may only be a month left for me so I should read this before I go.

I already did. Called her right after I finished it and I was crying. She didn't answer but I left her a voicemail telling her how proud I was of her and how great the book is.
