Just around 2018, I've finally decided to quit Facebook and thank god that I did. What sucks though is I have other addictions as well and I do know I have to quit those and balance my life around. Sadly Reddit is one of those which contributes the reason for my depression. Nothing but bad news there, and also I'm glad I've accidentally deleted my Twitter. A blessing in disguise.

YouTube has to be another big one and I'll eventually make a channel to only watch the ones that I want too only and not get distracted with mindless scrolling.

Video games is what I use to help keep me sane but only in moderation, if needed. It'll be hard but it's doable.

You probably did the right thing... The whole system of that site is based around nothing but you posting photo after photo, to the point where you end up taking selfies of yourself while you sleep. It's honestly that bad, I found myself a victim to it around a month or so ago too. Ended up deleting a lot of the selfies and photos because I found it a bit worrying on who from my friends and friends on their end gets to see them. For all I know, Jack the Reaper 2.0 might have been watching on the other end making his move on me. :| I tell you right now, FB is a nasty system without a doubt.

Not sure about twitter and Reddit, while it seems fun, it's also filled with many cold people sadly.
As for gaming, it's hard nowadays for me to carry on with what I loved most. Gaming was like the holy grail to me when it comes to keeping the depressive episodes at bay. Now it seems that "defense wall" is taken down and that they, the bad emotions are walking right through the giant hole in that wall with nasty rebars sticking out.

Either way, I hope you manage to find something that makes you happy out there. But FB... Yeah, you're better on staying away.
A few days ago I planned to shut down mine too. I nearly did once but restored it due to family members asking me why I did that. :/

There are numerous studies that link social media to addiction and depression. I have accounts but I never use them anymore either.

It can be very toxic indeed, so I'm glad you're getting away from it.

I stopped facebook years ago. went back for about a month and all it did was raise my anxiety drastically. my current problem is reddit. I've never been fond of know-it-alls and that's really all reddit is. there's no much grey in every situation, knowing everything about a certain topic still won't give you the whole story.

I've deleted at least 3 accounts only to get lonely and create a new one, in which I fall back to frustration and agitation.

I want to become a hermit, but I have no idea how I'd get my medication regularly.
