I reached out for help and begged my doctor for a medicine to let me relax. She prescribed me with 25mg quietapine. She told me I can only take 1 pill, and maybe 2 if I can't sleep. The thing is, it doesn't relax me as much as I want it to. Is it dangerous to take 4-5 tablets today if I usually take 1-2? And is it a scary feeling or relaxing feeling? Because I got scared the first time it hit me, and if I double up im scared I'll panic. I don't have schizophrenia or bipolar as far as I know so 100mg might be too much but I want to relax so bad for once.

can you call or setup another appointment and ask if you cna up the dose? i wouldn't advise making any decisions about medicine on one's own, even if it's not a big deal. no one can know if it would be good or not except your doctor. or even if it is something that can easily be upped, there might be a medical condition or medicine interaction that could make the doctor not up the dose or go a different route and maybe add a second, diffferent pill to make the first one work. i'd just t ake the guess work out of it and ask the doctor. did they say if it would take some time for it to get into your system? like some meds take like 2+ weeks for it to start working. or is it an anti-anxiety medicine that's suppoised to work as you take it?

Hopefully you can ask them soon. or maybe call a pharmacy and see if they can say something, like suggest an otc to take with that, first for something sooner than later if you can't reach the doctor quickly

It's supposed to work about 30 minutes to 1 hour after you take it. I decided to take 2 tablets again, and wait until I can contact my doctor :)

I use this medication for sleep, but I wouldn't recommend it for relaxation.
In theory, if you take it in higher doses, it can cause withdrawal syndrome, and you'll feel even worse than before.
Better just have a beer.

Hey, taking 4–5 quetiapine (100–125mg) is not dangerous for a healthy person, but when you're used to just 1–2 it can backfire. it can make you feel very heavy, sedated, spaced out, or even more anxious (paradoxical but often effect) especially if it already scared you at a lower dose.

If it didn't help much at 25–50mg, increasing the dose probably won't give you the feeling you're chasing. You might want to ask your doc about something like benzodiazepines which are best for anxiety, but docs dont wanna prescribe it bc theyre addictive.
