Discussion Quickest way you've seen someone ruin their life?

I knew this super intelligent guy my age this year (21) who was from a decent family in the States. Was set to become an accountant. One day he met a girl online and they hit it off. with a few dates. Decided to hit it off and went on some dates along with had sex.

Turns out she's only 15 and lied about her age. Her parents found out when they went through her phone and they went to the police. The police arrested him and released him on bail saying he'd be looking at contributing to the delinquency of a minor along with having sex with a 15yr old so a felony. Decided to blow his brains out because he probably couldn't become an accountant with a criminal record.

My ex boyfriend is so mental he got himself in jail (again) on a breach of a restraining order. He cannot get out because he has no money for bail and no one to post it for him. I posted bail for him once and told him I would not do it again. Days later he breached again and is back in jail. Totally ruined financially and otherwise. Homeless so it is probably better for him in jail. And he is 70 years old. I am not saying I am ruined because of him but the situation contributes to my dysphoria.

A student (12-13 yrs old) got pregnant and never came back to school, boyfriend went to jail/prison if I remember correctly.

Funny how the boys always go to jail so the kids get raised by an immature single mom in the 'rough' part of town. Not that they'd be much better off with them...
