Quetiapine as an antiemetic

Hello all,

So I am planning on using SN as my method. I just think it will probably be hard for me to acquire an antiemetic. I don't currently even have a doctor to get it from.

I was prescribed quetiapine at one point, however, and I still have a ton of it. I read on suicide wiki that it can work as a dopamine antagonist , and therefore could be used as an antiemetic for SN poisoning. Has anyone used it for that purpose or know someone with a success story?

Probably , although @autumnal suggests only at 300mg+ , it might be somewhat effective , because dosages are so individual .

Yes , few have . Most notable is @BPD_LE . But we can't know it works . You know the problem with AE

HOWEVER. You cannot just take it as antiemetic like take a pill or two when needed etc .

How much should I take?

As prescribed, don't change Personally-tailored – dosage varies greatly between individuals (explained here & here) Example .

In short: don't take it if you are not using it regularly .

If you take quetiapine in daily amounts of 300mg+, and have done so for a period of time, this should already provide enough antiemetic effect so as not to require meto at all.

If you take quetiapine in lower doses than 300mg, you may consider gradually titrating your dose upwards to this point. However, please see my guide for more information first:

If you for some reason chose to combine quetiapine and meto, you would be placing yourself at a higher risk of experiencing extrapyramidal side effects (EPS), a risk which is already present with either medication individually and thus further increased when combining them.

Read previous comments . You don't skip antipsychotics . Taking meto with Q may be problem .

Yes...and? There are a number of antispsychotics which can act as an antiemetic, but of those the OP currently has quetiapine.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I currently take 200mg at night and 150 in the morning and have done for years so I should be alright then with antiemetics

Gotta admit, I'm disappointed. I took quetiapine for a few days before I had to discontinue. I was hoping I could use it to take SN, but apparently not.

I always try to highlight the names of medications in bold, it is meant to provide clarity for both myself as the writer (especially in lengthy posts where I am comparing and contrasting two medications) and to help others as the readers. It is certainly not intended to be taken as SHOUTING, and hopefully now that you are aware of that intention, you will be less likely to misconstrue the overall tone of my original post.

There's nothing wrong with someone dropping a random fact into a discussion, but there's equally nothing wrong with someone else asking for clarification on what they meant to convey when doing so.
