Recently I went to the doctor for reasons other than mental health, that is, because of a physical problem, and when looking at my history they saw that I was in mental health years ago, and that I have OCD, and since they don't know what happens to me they tell me to relax .. as if insinuating that I am making it up, does someone else have something similar? it's really frustrating that you are treated differently for being in mental health.

If you are not comfortable with your doctor, I agree. Find a new one.

Almost all medical staff will do that, a dr told me that a patient was refused care and then later nearly died, it's a fucked up system. Even if you have ocd you can still have physical illnesses as well

Slightly over a year back, I also talked to a doctor about a physical condition. The condition (which still persists after a year) led to me having OCD, which in turn caused me to start visiting a psychotherapist. I'm not sure if we had the same experience, but I feel like the therapist kept getting sidetracked. I've stopped visiting since I feel like they didn't really understand my thoughts.

Also, awesome to see another AoT fan here! :) One of the only things I'm looking forward to anymore is the final season.

All the docs I see for anything now discriminate because of mental health.
I was fine. I got ill. I didn't cope well cus I'm on my own. I stopped sleeping. Got depressed and anxious. As you would.
Now they see depression on my record and everything is blamed on my mental health. I could have a sodding heart attack and they'd say it's depression.
Cart before the horse-ism!

Oh, the wonderful world of medicine...

One physician said my GI issues caused my psychiatric conditions, the other said the exact opposite. Tossing you around each other without treatment, money saved, hallelujah. Your case may be different of course, just a lazy physician, look for another to treat you.

It is not exactly the same experience, in my case, I have been knocking for years, in fact many years ago I was admitted for attempted suicide, and that is in my medical record. When I recently went to the doctor for a physical problem, and since they see nothing in the tests, they have seen in my record that I have OCD, and that I was admitted long ago, implying that I am making it up.

I really like AoT but I stayed in the second season, I have no motivation to watch anime, or for video games or anything, I only play counter-strike because it's always the same, it's like watching TV, I guess it's because of depression.

That's exactly what happened to me. I went in to get checked out for a problem and I pretty much got the same. I'm figuring that whatever happens to me, I won't be taken seriously. So I don't even waste the time anymore.

Yeah I find a lot of the things I say aren't really heard or like "oh her mental illness is just making her think & exaggerate"

It's very frustrating & I find it takes quite a lot to find someone that doesn't instantly invalidate.

Find another doctor. When I was first suffering with Crohns disease I sent almost 8 months being told it was for attention, anxiety, making it up etc. Finally a doctor took me seriously but it was too late and I had to have 25cm of my bowel removed. So deffo get another opinion.

Definitely find a new doctor. You are under no obligation to stay with one that doesn't treat you with respect, and not all doctors are like this.

I see, sorry you have to go through that. Best of luck for the future.

I'm currently experiencing the same thing, though a month ago I could enjoy anime a lot more. I watched the whole of AoT in a week, actually. Currently it doesn't seem to do anything for me.

Imo that's why it should be totally illegal to access someone's mental health history that easily, even for a doctor.

How comes they can have access to this information without you providing it to them ? Is it on a database ?

You know, even people who don't have a record of mental health issues are told " it's all in your mind " , " it's caused to stress " by doctors who are not willing/ incapable of doing their jobs properly ALL the time, so u can't imagine what you guys have to go through.
When they don't feel like making the effort of finding a diagnosis, they often pull the " somatization" card.

I have a friend in middle school who's mom had died of a late diagnosed cancer, after being told " your stomach pains are simply caused by stress" for an entire year , by numerous lazy practitioners .

Is it possible to consult via Skype in your country? Sounds like a good option if you want your physical issues to be taken care of.

I don't know where the OP is located, but I'm in the US and we usually have a primary care doctor that handles most of our healthcare. Every time I go to another doctor, psychiatrist, or therapist they ask me to sign a release giving permission to share information with my primary. But it's only ever been used for good reasons, to coordinate my care.

Other than that, there's no database. We have medical privacy laws that are pretty strict.
