Self explanatory title. Anyone have tips on how to do this? A long time ago I failed an attempt and ended up having crazy rope burn around my neck, had a hell of a time coming up with a story to cover it up.

Might be able to control the marks by placing a towel between neck and rope. A dish or hand towel may work as well, but they aren't as thick.

Not sure what rope your using, i guess some leave worse marks than others, I'm using a hemp rope, it's rough as old man balls. I'm using a 'buff' (neck warmer) very soft material, and it's like cotton wool compared to rope.
With partial you don't need THAT much pressure, I've been practicing and I just sit there almost getting high, blocking and releasing again and again. Some marks straight afterwards but nothing lasting.

I think, if you want die really, you will have marks. Death requires strong pressing and it makes marks always. And if you will use weak press, you will not die. You can use complete hanging, it is the sure death.

I tried partial a couple days ago, and my family noticed the popped capillaries or whatever in my face. I almost ended up in the ward again. Regardless of what you do, you will be doing visible damage to your body. As for rope burn, cover the rope.

Wrap a tampon pad around your neck, the yellow kind from Always. It'll prevent blemishes and bruising from the rope around your neck.

I think it can save life and here it is bad! Moreover, i had one bloody eye after my last try. Capillaries didn't tolerate choking.

So the neck isn't the one problem.

If you do it right you don't need much pressure at all. Got to the fainting stage once but freaked out at the speed and stupidly aborted.

Yes, it's very quick isn't it? I like to sit there, almost meditating, nearly passing out over and over again.

Difficult to calculate how much is the enough.

What I meant by practice is getting to what BurningLights was describing; easily getting to that passing out point. Lots of good pointers though
I already have a really sturdy place to tie the rope, tested it out many times with my body weight

Is it though? This ain't rocket science, (I understand you have tried and don't want to belittle your experience). Get it right, apply pressure, if you don't pass out, move the noose and try again .

I fear we are slightly deviating from the point of thread, myself included.

If someone can be choked out by another's arm, then really, It shouldn't matter what we use, going by that, it almost seems like the more cushioning the better. (Arms don't make direct contact on the carotid)
So if you are concerned, pad the shit out of it. However a rope will give a lot more pressure to a smaller surface area, so there is always a chance to create marks.

Decided to use a thin layer of sponge, seems to work. Thanks a lot, the practice will help me gain more confidence.

With partial I finally decided to really pull down and ended up with bright red marks (after "practicing" for a few times) It went away but then I realized the amount of pressure I have to have and haven't practiced since.
