Yesterday I posted something that was "awaiting moderator approval" and hidden from visitors when I posted it. It was eventually approved, but I wonder what's the reason.

I had that happen back in september when I first joined. It was because I was discussing a method in depth in a way that was like helping someone do it. So I deleted it.
I am alone yet again. Heavy workload, one moderator per any one time and I think that it is. I say as much as somebody with plenty of warnings. Anything particularly triggering or sensitive would have got highest priority I think.
All platforms need rules, and a moderation staff to enforce them, even ones focused on open discussion of topics like suicide. If you want to see what a truly open forum looks like then join darknet chan boards. It's hell.
I'm assuming the forum detects certain hot button keywords which when posted won't have it be posted immediately but instead sent to a moderator for them to read it over and approve of.
