(Positive? rant) I love hanging

This is probably a weird thing to say, but I really love hanging as a method. I love the state of focus you can get into tying the knots. I love the sensation of your vision going black. I love that (with full-suspension... full-suspension is my method of choice) you can't turn back. I love that you can hang yourself on a tree and go out surrounded by nature. I love hanging so much.

Anyone else attached to their method of choice?

I wish I was. Personally I do not want to experience the dying process, I would love to just disappear. Hanging just sounds really unpleasant to me. The thought of being dead, no longer existing is the thing that comforts me. I do want to die in nature though.

I like how simple it is and that it doesn't require any illegal, hard to get materials. Simply buy a rope at a hardware store, some liquor for courage and you're set. It's also predictable unlike poisons/drugs with which different people can experience different symptoms.

I understand the appeal of SN tho, I wish I could just drink a glass of something and die, but it's not that easy and the sensation - from what I've read here - is nowhere near as pleasant as with hanging.

I felt this for the first time yesterday. I'd tried several times, but nothing in my house was high enough. Eventually I'd found a method high enough and took that step. Completely blacked out can't even remember it happening. I woke up with this rush didn't have a clue we're I was. My bad luck the rope had snapped. But gave me confidence I could go again

Same method, and I am definitely attached to it. I just wish I could do it in nature, but the chance of being found before time by random hitchhikers and becoming a vegetable is too high, so I'm going for a hotel room. The idea of suffocating isn't pleasant for me and I'll probably be in a lot of pain before I go unconscious, and the part of "kicking the bucket" gives me anxiety. But I love everything else about it, including how my body will be found.

The nature part scares me, we have a park near my house. But it's quite open, so hard to find somewhere quiet to go. I've been scoping out trees and a place but can't find anywhere. It's even more difficult at night with no light

Also a member of the hang gang. It's a kick-ass method with minimal cons. It just continues to grow on me over time. Perhaps some consider it too gruesome, too visually explicit of a way to go but for me, almost every aspect is dreamy. Just thinking about it now is turning me half-lidded. Or maybe I'm just sleepy.

I have been hanged a number of times by a partner, it is not painful at all and I fade out within 5 to 10 seconds. The more often I wake up again the more I want not to wake up any more. I have hidden a ladder beneath an oak tree in an remote forest and only have to use it.

Although not my method of choice, I have a similar attachment to trains. I normally don't go to train stations alone for this exact reason. Last time I was there alone it was scary, bordering on terrifying. This was not because I was scared of the train but rather how easy I realised it would be. Three steps forward and I'm dead, those would be the easiest three steps of my life.

The roar of the train, feeling the wind rush past due to the speed of it and the blinding lights. Honestly a little addictive. Waiting for the day that robot or driverless trains are introduced to make me feel less guilty...

Until then I guess I'll hang on to my current method.

I really can't love any method because I wish I could fix my life here, but I do think that there are reasons there is the most common method worldwide- it is effective and the materials are easy to acquire for most people.

I think it'd be hard not feeling attached to one's method when we are quite fixated on dying (successfully). being up there and looking at the noose brings me an intense feeling of calmness. knowing it'd all be over soon… before I couldn't get it right. smh.

Based on posts here partial hanging seems to fail most of the time and full suspension seems to work reliably unless a person is taken down by someone else during the process, possibly because they heard something or just happened to walk in.

I'm probably an oddball on this forum, since I'm 35 years old and not suicidal, but...

I do envision one day going to the doctor, and they tell me I've got terminal cancer. Or I envision forgetting my keys, fucking up my freelance writing for the day, and becoming demented. Either way, barring sudden fatal organ failure, it's the same ending: CTB via heroin or firearm.

Yeah I wrote on another thread how recently I seem to have been soothed by tying nooses, even if I'm not currently actively suicidal. Something about knowing there's always that 'escape hatch', I think (much like the SN under my bed).

I sorta got problems with PMing so gonna reply here. I reconnected with a HS friend recently and he's working as a EMT now. told him all about the suicide stuff, dude was really understanding, and told me beta blockers may fight off the survival instinct a lil bit. my method of choice is also partial hanging. 's just, I don't have access to these rn. tried clonidine (an alpha-2 agnoist), still struggled the hell out of it. hope this helps.

People have been found with all sorts of ways to stop themselves surviving like securing their hands, feet, gagging themselves etc. You need to think about your specific set up and the ways in which you could possibly come out of the rope. I'm sorry you're also in this position and i do hope things will get better for you and you won't feel the need to go through with it. Personally I'm going for full exactly because of these worries about partial. And also I'm not comfortable with doing lots of 'practice' to find my sweet spot.

I also for a long time struggled to figure out how someone could tie their hands behind their back and then I saw someone here mention using handcuffs and I was like...sweet Jesus why did I not think of that?

I definitely say if you get it right hanging can be the quickest for you to check out. I remember not realizing that I was hanging for a moment. I was like in a dream state and could hear noise in the distance. Such a hard experience to describe. Unfortunately if I'm being honest coming back to this world was a awful and scary feeling. Realized I was choking and took it off the noose. Started to just shake and cry in bed. But hanging will always be around with how quickly accessible it is.
