I read the old suicide wiki on hanging, and it said, "...placing the rope approximately in the middle of the neck while tilting the head downwards made them passing out within seconds. The best placement of the rope is halfway between your Adam's apple and the base of your neck." Link to old wiki
It also said that "placing the noose high up the neck will constrict the trachea".

I'm confused about this since I've seen people saying that placing the noose under the jaw and above the Adam's apple, not below the Adam's apple, is the best way to compress the carotid arteries and make you pass out fastest. I'm planning to do full hanging or partial hanging with a bit of my feet touching the chair soon.

Any clarifications or suggestions would be appreciated.
bump :)

maybe you could experiment? i have been so confused about it too but it makes sense the rope will rise up anyway with your weight

Yes, Pee Wee, I was just going to say the same thing. I think a lot of people say high up on the neck for two reasons. One, the rope is going to slide up most likely anyway (I think especially true during full) and the second it is supposed to be easier to compress the carotid arteries for most people high on the neck. But, I have also read the sweet spot for everyone is not always the same which is why it is important for us to find out what works best for us. From watching some of the partial hang videos closely, they made themselves pass out first and during some of those videos, it didn't look like the rope slid up that far to me, but that was, I think, successful partial which can be tricky to say the least, not impossible but tricky.
Again, these are my observations and I suggest doing plenty of your own homework and practicing and checking your setup until you feel comfortable and as confident as possible.
Good to speak to you guys anyway today for what it is worth.

My thoughts….
Evelyn's guide has a lot to say about it being high. When I've messed around with it, between jaw and Adam's apple is good. I think gravity takes it from there. Also noose behind neck.
So then if you watch videos, you'll see every variety and all work.
Just watched the female with scarf of fan, knot in front. Seemingly does everything wrong. But passes out almost instantly. Body goes and stays limp.
Then others with knot on side. Again, successful.

So maybe it doesn't matter.

Biggest thing is just doing it. I can't seem to. The other thing from videos is just how quickly they step out into the air. No hesitation.

I think those are good thoughts to consider for sure, itsgone2. Evelyn's guide is very useful but I still think everyone needs to double and triple check their info and setup. I do not want "any"of" us" to suffer (unnecessarily) any more than we already have especially in, perhaps the final moments of our lives.
