I've been saying for like a decade now, US politics has been such a joke. People older than me tell me it always has been. Our current politics how are you NOT supposed to be suicidal?

I mean it has always made me crazy how we have these rich c********** in a charge, who don't give a damn about us, making the decisions that decide whether we're taken care of or not. You got Elon musk saying people who get social security checks are parasites, You have people saying that people who are wanting more than minimum wage are lazy and entitled (this isn't really new), You have Donald Trump and JD Vance insulting a war hero on national TV and no consequences whatsoever. You have people that have hard times in society generally tells you to go f*** yourself.

I can go on and on. I've never been happy with the state of this country and that speaks to a lot of my depression, Not having any control over anything.

I think that in the US, very few people have an politic culture/education and so, dont understand the stake. I'm french, and it is less like that. But it is worse and worse along time...
I think that also a lot of people see that like a TV show... Sort form of politic entertainment?

In france, i know a lot of people that are interested by politics. But they are "just" desappointed but not suicidal at all.

To conlude, i think that we are "just" more sensitive.

Do what I've done. I used to watch news religiously, but since Trump, I watch no more. I read no newspapers nor any news online. I have no idea what's going on in the world since November 2024. I don't want to hear about him, see him, hear his grating voice, hear about his minions, nothing. I look at it this way - I have no control, anyway, of what's going on in this world, so why add to my stress and anxiety with more worry over what the buffoon is doing?

Politics has declined since Reagan won. His people started aggressively working the poll numbers. Divide and conquer. It has gotten worse each election cycle.
It is all about greed and power at the end if the day. Any lie will do if someone without facts hears it.
Under educated, easily distracted and unfocused voters will always do the bidding if those with these abilities.

For anyone with a personal issue, these will be hard times.

Elon/Trump/Republicans welcome you to the United States of Wageslavery.
Elon, who unleashed racism, anti-semitism, misogyny, believes billionaires like himself should rule and is working to establish this.

Economically things will only get worse and worse as the people who pretty much endorse worker exploitation, who have forever been anti-union, pro-business/corporation, pro-bankers, pro-finance, work to permanently entrench wageslavery economics. All this wealth and profits, yet minimum wage is still absurd, especially in many red states. Republicans want you to be constantly worrying about your livelihood.

Less regulation, oversight means corporations, finance sector, the wealthy can get away with more shit that benefits them at the cost of the people. More consolidation will be allowed thus fewer choices, less competition, and higher prices. Parasitic capitalism will continue squeezing consumers for their own profit. The capitalist privateers will seek to eliminate social services like ACA, medicare and medicaid. An already horrifically exploitive health care for profit system will become even worse for everyday americans.

Religious conservatives are fine with all this shit so long as they get to push religion. I mean if your life is miserable, you have constant worry for your livelihood, live in a cruel, inequitable world, well you can come to religion for comfort! the suffering is all worth it, god will sort it when you die!
