As I'm sure a lot of you know there is a massive opiate crisis in America. People who are buying them off the street are overdosing on them and people who get then from doctors aren't taking them as prescribed. So the FDA and the CDC are cracking down on doctors to cut down pain medication for those who suffer from pain conditions and truly need them to get through their day. I just wanted to make people aware of what is going on and that they can help by not abusing opiates. You can make the difference between a pain patient getting their medication or not getting hardly anything at all. People who truly need these medications to survive shouldn't be punished because people are buying them off the street and overdosing. But that is what's happening and many people who never thought of suicide have killed themselves because they are being lowered on their medication or not getting any at all. I'm one of those people who are being punished! I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which is the highest ranking pain condition in medical history. I've lived with this condition for 14 miserable years and I don't know how much longer I can do it especially now that my doctor has cut me down on my pain meds which is the only thing that shaves a little of the pain off.

Can I ask what medications you take? And they give some relief?

The same happens with benzos. People who need them are being restricted by doctors. It happened to me.

The opiate crisis in the US is entirely due to big farma pushing dangerous, highly addictive hard drugs on the American public without properly informing them of the risks coupled with greed and gross negligence by the medical class.

That the US government is now 'cracking down' on doctors prescribing farmaceutical opiates is fairly ridiculous. Especially if it leads to patients with genuine pain-problems being deprived of adequate care and medication.

Going after doctors who actually try to help people in severe pain in response the alarming numbers of opiate addicts is completely missing the point and a completely ineffective strategy.

Drug dealers and users will always exist. So will prescription abusers. Not to mention even if everyone on this site listened to you it wouldn't make a difference. Doctors are made to be more restrictive around opiates because of their addictive nature

Isn't this blaming the victims of a cruel system? Many have become addicted to opioids in US because of a government and healthcare system that has failed them. Why is it so hard to get addiction treatment in US? Why are so many more dollars given to law enforcement and interdiction programs than treatment?

It's doctors, insurance companies and government, not addicts, making the decisions about who gets a prescription.

You're absolutely right.

I understand that. I'm talking about when a doctors takes you off pain meds because your pain is gone but someone still goes out and buy them. Some people, like me, are going to be out opiates for the rest of their lives due to conditions they have. I just wanted to she'd some light on the topic.

Happened to me, as well. Beta blockers don't cut it with my flavor of anxiety, but that's all my current doctors will prescribe.

I understand. If someone is in constant pain though like me, I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which is the highest ranking pain condition in medical history and there are no treatments and no cure for, they should be able to be on pain meds without the doctors busting their balls to get off of them because people are overdosing. I just wanted to shed some light on a topic that is going on right now.

I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which is the highest ranking pain condition medical history. I've tried the one treatment that is available and it didn't work. So all there is to shave a little pain off of my head and body is pain medication and I have been cut back on it because of this reason. The doctor talked will me extensively about it. So I'm being forced to suffer because of other people's wreckless behavior. One doctor took a woman off her pain meds and her husband went to his office and shot him in the head and took his own life. Another slipped into a coma and died. The meds I take give me a tiny bit of relief from the constant pain I'm in every day.

I've only had fentanyl patches. Never pills. A doctor would never prescribe those. Yes I would think that if you took pure fentanyl you would die. I'm not an expert on that medication though but I read about a boy who bought a pill and thought it was a Xanax and it turned out to be fentanyl and he died in his sleep.

I hope you go peacefully. I really do. I hope you get what you paid for and just fall asleep with no pain. Lots of love.

Your missing the point. They buy opioids not just for pleasure but because of their addiction and the lack of treatment. Most buying illegally are buying heroin of very poor quality, not pharmaceutical products, because they are too expensive, more than a dollar per mg.
Buying opioids illegally, street or darknet, is dangerous, expensive, and unreliable. Anyone planning to ctb with them can confirm.
Yes I understand that. The doctors need to wean them off of opiods if their pain is gone is what I'm saying and then it's up to them to be responsible and not go out and buy them.

It is indeed much harder to prescribe opiates due to rampant abuse. Benzos are being scrutinized heavily as well.
