• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

It's the scariest thing for me. Not what happens when you die but the fact that there is a big chance nothing else will happen again. Of course every belief is different but no matter what you think you will never be yourself again. Never wake up in your body again, never eat your favourite foods, never watch your favourite movies... as much as I hate being alive and wish it would all end sooner than later, thinking about how permanent death is, it's terrifying

Yes, it's so damn close and understandable to me when on the one hand:
You don't feel anything: 🙂
But on the other hand
You don't feel anything: 😞

We are so worried about what it is like to fall asleep and never wake up. But at least we know what it is like to wake up, having never fallen asleep

By the way, I remembered one of my first mega-posts on this site about a concept that is quite similar to reincarnation, but not religious, but as one of the solutions to the so-called "Problem of Personal Identity"(A rather old philosophical problem). It starts almost exactly the same as your post.

I think it's the point where those things no longer mean anything to you that death becomes more alluring.

It is disappointing to me if "nothing" happens but simultaneously it can't be disappointing to me because I won't be around. So it sort of has both good and bad elements to it. I would personally rather some continuation of consciousness so long as it's not "hell" lmao.

Do not worry friend, when you think about it a bit, eternity isn't so scary. Once we die, if there's nothing, we will not be conscious to regret our decision. But lets say we were to be recalled in some shape or form in the far, far future, it would feel like a split second between our death and that point, similar to when we fall asleep. It's like before you were born, we were dead for millions of years yet we could not perceive this time. After death, life will be instant and hopefully it will be a far better one.

Not so. There will be a resurrection at the end of the world. So I, and all who trust Christ as savior, will rise again from dust as a body and again eat food, watch movies, go on hikes etc. on the new earth, but that time without any pain, decay, sorrow, sin, crying, tears or death. That's right, the Christian afterlife is actually not being a disembodied ghost but a literal physical new life.

2 Peter 3:13: "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."
Revelation 21:4: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

I'm not scared of that. Whatever death is, is coming regardless of whether I ctb or let life kill me. Whatever happens after is out of my hands. Therefore, there's no need for me to worry about it. I'm not sure what comes after leaving this reality. I tend to believe that it's not the end. As the universe is eternal, so am I. I feel. I think. I am. I'm made up of stuff from the universe. Therefore, there's a strong possibility that this is not the end, but a transition. That's what I tend to believe. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and worries, I guess.

I have these same feelings. I personally think that there is nothing after. True nothingness. Total lack of existence. And it's not just fearful, it's sad to me. I won't hear my brothers voice, I won't get to feel his warmth, I cannot tell him that I love him. But I cannot continue to live with this suffering day by day. We all die, it's just a matter of when. And if nothingness awaits us all then I would be there sooner rather than later.

Thank you. I believe in Christ too and I am trying every day to be better since I converted. I constantly feel so unworthy of Gods mercy and grace because He gave us life and here I am trying to take it. All of these thoughts make me feel like my faith isn't strong enough. I pray and I pour my worries and this is one of them, that I don't know if He will accept me, and im a weak willed person even while I try and fight depression to get closer to Him, His love is what is getting me through all of this, so your comment means so much to me. Thank you so much

We are the universe experiencing itself through infinite points of view. Only the self dies, the "energy" that we are comprised of gets reused to tell another story.

Those things don't matter to those who are dead. You worry about them because you're alive right now. If you weren't alive, you wouldn't care about missing out. Dead beings have no desire for a positive welfare state. Personally, I think that permanent non existence is the best thing that could happen to me. I used to think that perfection was impossible to ever exist in reality but I was wrong as permanent non existence is perfection

I have the same feeling, thought I know this is illocical, probably one aspect of survival instinct. It will most likely be like before birth. You will not experience anything when you are not existing anymore, no remembrance no regrets, no time passing, no duration.

Ludwig Wittgenstein said the following of death in Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus: 'Death is not an event in life: we do not live to experience death. If we take eternity to mean not infinite temporal duration but timelessness, then eternal life belongs to those who live in the present.

You believe in reincarnation as well?
Yes, but not karma based reincarnation. The self doesn't exist, we are a compilation of memories, experiences and ideas that we merge together and call a personality, we are an illusion. Same with the world around us, colours, sounds and other sensations only become so once translated through our biological filters. So, nothing in our reality has an objective form. The colour of an object can shift depending on the species viewing it, some species pick up entirely different sensations that we cannot. One must then wonder what exists outside our senses. Does there exist some form of reality beyond what we see or is reality just a projection of our own minds? Perhaps this reality is as real as the ones we conjure within our dreams. It feels real, but does not exist anywhere. I believe we are "God" "The Universe" "The All/Source" dreaming and every person and thing within this universe is a manifestation through which the universe may express itself. "God" just happened to be here, it doesn't understand why it is or how it works but it works regardless. In an attempt to understand it's infinite complexity, it manifests through us to experience every possible life, every feeling, every thought whilst enjoying the ride of doing so all the while. Therefore, everything we do in our lives, no matter how dismal or empty it may seem, is all to serve the purpose of understanding our existence/workings. We are all God, we are all infinite. The idea of ourselves die, but the universe, our godhood, is indestructible and will continue to manifest as all sorts of creatures in all sorts of scenarios. We should be excited for what the universe has in store for us in our next experience.
