The one I went to wasn't bad however I was sent in involuntary. Fed 3 times a day and snacks. Access to my phone and a room that had a tv but other than that it was fairly boring.

I was on 24 hour watch for the initial few days the in a shared room as my risk reduced in their opinion

unfortunately they cannot keep you indefinitely. The max is usually about 2 weeks before they have to let you go. I have been in several psych wards across the US and they all function pretty similarly. its not bad, they feed you 3 times a day, you have the option of going to their group therapy sessions. you'll meet with doctors and they'll make sure you take your meds and adjust them as needed while you're there. you'll probably spend a lot of the time either reading or watching TV, there's not much else to do. if you;re lucky visitors can bring you outside food, but some places are stricter and won allow anything from the outside, even books (insane to me but whatever). I wish you the best of luck <3

It was pretty good for me!
I'll always recommend people go there if they need it.
I binged the office, and they gave me a lot of hot chocolate :)

I like it there.
most of the time it is just figuring out what I want to eat, sitting in groups, reading books, relaxing
the ones I have been in had good food and the people were usually nice

I have been to probably 10 different ones throughout multiple states and only 1 was a bad experience

usually when I go in I am coming off the street and in psychosis, a complete mess. so the idea of a shower, a bed, and usually unlimited food is amazing.
I haven't been in a few years and honestly miss it. I also like inpatient rehabs and have been to many of those.
some people hate these places though so who knows.

i went involuntary four times to youth wards and once to an adult facility, all in the US across different states. it's not the worst, just very boring, if you want to get out ASAP then just take the meds they give you and tell them you feel better.

The first time I was involuntarily commited to a psych ward, I had only pretended to want to ctb because I had run away from boarding school and didn't want to go back. After the things I've seen during that short admission (I think it was 3 days), I actually want to ctb. I was a young and dumb teenager at the time, got locked up with the adults and basically got PTSD from it. Because I then wanted to ctb for real, I got locked up in the same place, with the adults, many more times when I was between 13 and 17 years old. It has destroyed me and is one of the many reasons why I want to ctb, even now, a little more than a decade later.

I self admitted myself once, basically just locked to a section of the hospital for about 4 days
Was mentally unstable at the time but tbh it was actually kinda nice
I ended up telling the nurse girl she was cute but she called me awkward, I would later see her on tinder so yeah that was a real kick in the groin
I didnt talk to anyone else there, no one there I cared to talk to
The place I was at let you use your phone from around 12-8 iirc so most of my day was just dicking around on my phone
Food was gross but my parents brought me things, almost felt kinda bad for the other people
Ultimately it was an ok experience but it didn't help me at all long term as I'm still a single lonely loser

Very boring, very cold. Roommates were extremely loud snorers. Sleep apnea. The metal phone was very quiet and one of the two would collapse into static randomly. Food was solid. Everything else was a nightmare.

All you can do is pray that it is a good psych ward.

I've been there twice, in two different places. The first was very comfortable, the food was good, I had a TV in my room and could smoke whenever I wanted. The second was traumatizing; it felt like prison. They treated me like an idiot, the food was awful, no TV, my roommate WAS SOMETHING, and at 10 pm they closed everything (the area of the rooms was separated from the rest of the ward by metal doors).
