• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

This isn't a conclusion that I've come to by observing this people, it's something that I think is true based on my own experience. I do not want to call a helpline. What are they going to tell me? Practically any question or thought they can give me, I've probably already pondered upon multiple times.

Agreed. It's been almost a decade or more since I've first thought about suicide. I was 14 or 15 when I started thinking about it. 27 now, and preparing. I waited so long and have attempted all resources to help me, but it is not enough for some people. It wasn't enough for me. I'm ready and my body and mind know it, have known it. I just wish it wasn't so scary. Maybe in the future for others it will be easier, and I hope it is easier for many.

I imagine they can help for people thinking impulsively who don't *actually* want to kill themselves, but obviously they're useless for people who are consistently suicidal.

TBH I think most people posting these helpline threads all over social media either just don't understand mental illness or are just trying to make themselves feel better about their own powerlessness to help those around them.

Helplines are worthless. If you call them more than once you realise they are reading from a script and have nothing of value to say.

this is true. i think helplines are meant for 'normal' people in bad but momentary situations like being laid off or going through a bad breakup, people who have otherwise never seriously thought of suicide before - theyre in a crisis and crises can eventually be resolved. i guess an analogy here might be someone that is born blind vs someone that is temporarily blinded. people that post them fail to understand the deep seated issues that mentally ill people have and think they can be resolved just by talking. also helplines can just make things worse like having cops called and being sectioned.

It almost seems silly calling a helpline.

Like. It's been three decades of wanting to, two decades of trying in some form of other.

Whatr they gonna say? It'll get better?

The SERVICE helplines are providing are not for the people calling into them.
The SERVICE is provided for organizations to appear like they are doing the moral, upstanding thing to do.

If we can expose it widely enough, that these helplines are a fraud and actually very harmful to the people calling into them, especially ones that get sent to brutal institutions to have their rights stripped from them and a huge medical bill and stigma attached to their names...Then we can end the 'cover-our-ass' moral tax that these organizations are willing to pay to host these fake, torturous, and insulting 'help' lines.
