Before the internet
What did people like us do ? How did they find out about methods ? Was there any groups or anyway for them to contact each other ?
Sorry i could have worded this better but i find it hard to concentrate these days.I'm just wondering if there was no internet how would we find out about methods,or how did people in the past find out about methods.

Depending on how far back you want to go, they often had far more peaceful methods available, they could OD on barbiturates, gas themselves in old cars or ovens, rather than spend hours online researching how to order a potion on the dark web or blag some nitrogen from a hardware store.

How people always found out about stuff, including media and urban legends - media guidelines on reporting suicide are recent ish. Most online methods are just variations on or adaptations of tried and true ones in the hopes of attaining painlessness or reliability: hanging, weapons, jumping, drowning, overdose on drugs and poisons (toxicology information isn't too hard to find even offline), even carbon monoxide was known since ancient Greece (well before WWII). Old methods resurfaced as trends too.

Also, methods differ from region to region, in part due to culture and availability but also knowledge and association. I have no doubt modern media is responsible in huge part for the ideal of the pill OD, starting back from when things like barbiturates were plentiful and easy to OD on. In other places, pesticides are considered a real suicide issue. People learn from their surroundings.

i would give more credit to our pre-internet brethren. While they didn't have easy access to like minded people, they were certainly not dumb. All the methods we've discovered and read about, could be brainstormed on your own in time (besides maybe the chemical methods). The ingenuity in the average person was also higher before the internet. You wanna learn how to do something? No going to YouTube or google, you teach yourself how to do it, or find somebody to be taught first hand.

It sucks that they were deprived of human interaction with like minded people, but they didn't know what they were missing. I didn't even know what I was missing until 2 weeks ago, and I've have the internet since I was a kid.

Yes, probably didn't talk about it irl. In the glory days of pentobarbital being available by prescription (eg Marilyn Monroe's peaceful death), well, that was a clear answer.
