Hey,

since I couldn't find anything related to my topic in the "how to hang yourself" - thread Iam creating my own one to ask 3 questions.

So, firstly, am I able to do some kind of testrun with partial suspension? Iam thinking of holding the end of the rope in my hands instead of doing a knot and then when Iam passing out I will just fall down. Is that ok or will I be left with possible brain damage after testing this out?

Which length is best for partial suspension? 1m? 2m?
Which thickness is the best? 6, 8 or 10mm?
I'd really like to know because I don't want to order an endless number of ropes to test them out :notsure:

The safest way to test for partial is to stick your hand inside the noose and pull down to simulate the body thrashing around. As for length and all that, I recommend this thread: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/how-to-hang-yourself.1183/. From my experience, I would advise against using belts if you can (mine's too rigid to form a slipknot and too short to hang down much).

I can only address #3 with any confidence: I'd recommend going with a larger diameter rope. Not knowing what material you're using, I'll recommend the largest diameter possible just because it's less likely to break. Some hardware store line is pretty pathetically weak.

Also, my understanding of partial is that it's to compress the arteries, and a larger diameter rope will compress more than it will cut.

As for #2, how long a rope you need depends on what you're planning to anchor it to. If you're anchoring it to a doorknob, you'll need less rope than if you're anchoring it to a rafter out in the garage.

With "testing" I ment that I want to experience going unconsciousness not testing if the rope can hold my weight.

Would be a huge relief to know that it 100% works for me and that I can go any time I want :)

I think the only way you're going to run that sort of test is if you have friends who will be there and end the experiment for you, and friends like those are hard to come by. Unless you don't mind scaring the shit out of them and having them then hand you over to the psychs.

8mm rope is supposed to be the best one to use.
