Help Partial hanging with belt? Robin Williams way?

I don't understand how the belt works to ensure slip knot tightens? Tried but woke up

I hate to say it but Robin Williams must have had the perfect setup for him. Anytime I've tried to secure a belt the way he did the belt slips from the door.

Kate Spade did it with a scarf and door knob. May be easier than a belt.

Robin Williams is not a genius or anything. We only saw the result. He may have tried and failed 50 times before succeeding for all we know.

A belt is convenient but ropes are still the best option. There are many readily information available on the net and in this forum. We are all jaded, but we can take the last moments of energy we have left to research and perfect the method we want to make sure we exit this world with dignity and precision.
