A girl of 17 overdosed on paracetamol after being sold twice the recommended amount in a single transaction. Prudence Scouse died after swallowing four packets of tablets she bought in a Tesco store following a row with her boyfriend

The problem is that you don't usually die from Tylenol overdosing(USA brand). Generally, you vomit a LOT, suffer liver damage, and go through stomach pumping.That's why it's not recommended. It usually seems to fail. It usually causes lots of stomach pain as well(hence liver failure).

It's possible to die from it, but not reliable enough in many cases. That's why sn is used way more. It's more reliable overall, swifter loss of consciousnes, more peaceful, and more effective.

Overdosing on painkillers is sooo risky and its very unlikely to ctb with it. A lot of vomiting afterwards.

Is that because people regret it and tell someone? One thing I was reading said you had to have charcoal administered within 2 hours of ingestion which seems a very small window of time.

As far as I've heard, it's because you vomit it up and it also hurts your stomach horribly. Generally, if you're in agonizing stomach pain, you'd call 911(usa) right? Usually, that's what happens when someone does panic. It's a long drawn out process often times, and can take days to die. Of course, one could always regret it(like that girl in the article) and call 911. I've read about od'ing in the past. It's always stated that it's insanely hard to successfully overdose and die on ibuprofen, paracetamol, diphenhydramine, etc.


I'm not really super knowledgeable on anything else past that. Jgm63 is generally the one that does extensive research on methods, such as SN. All I can say is that, according to research, your chances of succeeding are low. This girl just happened to get the worst of it. But there are FAR more failures than successes.

I've had many paracetamol overdoses a couple in excess of 32 - with alcohol. I vomited a lot and was extremely nauseous. They all failed obviously, even when I didnt tell anyone what I did.

Yeah was definitely the lowest point in my life, I dont know why I kept trying with paracetamol. I guess I thought if I did it enough times it would surely kill me, but nope

I wouldn't recommend doing this. I took 50 and was in pure agony. Violently throwing up and could hardly stand up. Ended up going hospital hours later because of the pain. It was touch and go whether I lived or not. My liver was failing, but after a few days of treatment slowly started getting better. I would never try ending it that way again.

They should add a warning on medications that attempting to overdose on them will be statistically highly unlikely to be successful and very painful.
