I started cutting myself on my arms a couple months ago and its developed into a habit/maybe addiction I do every time i feel shitty. Be it right after an awkward social interaction where i feel like the outcast of the group, or to vent the stress right before a big event. I like cutting myself. I like the feeling, i like the blood, i like looking at the blood and at the scabs and at the scars. But I want to try and stop.

Has anyone here struggled with self harm in the past and managed to stop? And if so, what are some outlets I can vent my desires to cut into?

I found a tip that might help (putting SH items where they are harder to reach)

While I haven't SH'd, I've read about SH here and sometimes elsewhere.

i would look at harm reduction. maybe start by scratching instead of cutting, then you can use a pen to draw on yourself instead etc

hmm, if scratching to remove tiny annoying "growths" counts as SH, then my statement about me not doing SH needs updating, coz I did scratch hard... not to cause pain but to remove the nuisances, even when there was a lil pain.
