• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

I'm not an optimist or pessimist I am more of a realist. I can see good and opportunity in life and I can see the potential of improvement, but I can also see when things are completely bad and merit feeling bad about them and hopeless about the future.

Then it would have to be pessimism with religion which doesn't make a lot sense to me.
Can you explain why it has to be pessimism with religion?
You can be a pessimist that holds a view that the consciousness is metaphysical and will continue to suffer in death.
Just because schopenhauer was atheistic does not mean pessimism is.
Also it is less that I may even think there is an afterlife but the fact I am expecting a negative outcome no matter what making me consider if there is a remote possibility then it may happen tobring misfortune.

You should ask someone who holds such view because I don't. I'm a realist/pessimist and I think that death is the end. At least for this physical body and its brain.
will continue to suffer in death.
But this right here scares the f out of me

I asked you as you made a claim that pessimism is inseparable from atheism.
Also you seem to be more of a materialist then a realist or you would consider the uncertainty inherent to detecting the thing in itself by observing the simulacrum.
Scientific method is entirely useless at actually telling you why anything is and only tells us what it appears to be.

How can be science useless in explaining what something is if it literally observes the real world and works with data gathered from the real world. If science can't explain what our world is then nothing can. It's the closest thing that does it.
I don't know about relation between atheism and pessimism in fact not sure if these 2 things are related in any way.
Materialism and realism are related with each other so I guess I can make different claims based on one or the other.

I was going to say something similar about myself.

I mentioned why in my previous post just have a think about it.
The philosopher cannot prove if his abstract concepts which point to a possible cause of existence are correct and the scientist can never peer outside of the representation and peek at what the true form of reality is beyond figuring out laws that govern our world with no actual claim to why they manifested.

Why did you say pessimism cannot make sense with religion then?

Now that I think about it probably does make sense to some people. A pessimist who expects the worst even after death will go to hell or something like that and will be totally okay with. But it sounds kinda crazy idk.

It's enough for me to think that our world is made up from atoms and that it can appear in many complex variations which construct our reality.

I'm not a philosopher but I'm aware that I'm aware.
