That website is so bizarre, reminds me of a bygone geocities, angelfire, and live journal era. You can tell whoever owns it Is an older person with way too much time on their heads and a morbid curiosity for observing "those poor lost suicidal lambs."
There's such an obvious juxtaposition between, "you are responsible for your own wellbeing" and "its simply a way to transfer your hurt and sorrow to those who know and love you." So, which is it? Are we meant to be rugged, individualistic stoics who control our own destiny, or are our lives shaped by the people and environments we inreract with during our time on this earth?
These disclaimer statements are just the same guilt tripping platitudes plastered everywhere else. Nothing thoughtful or insightful. You can tell that these people dont understand the reasons why many jumpers seek out that bridge. Many people, myself included, are unloved and do not have family members or close connections who would be distraught if we disappeared.
Not every suicidal person has that kind of social support, a great deal of us are on our own and that can be a driving force behind wanting to catch the bus. Of course, this is an inconvenient truth to platitude pushers who want to frame the issue as a lack of psychological willpower. However, I doubt anyone who sincerely believes in these platitudes would seriously acknowledge how devastating it can be to be unloved by the world, they'd probably just claim we never tried hard enough to get out there or form connections.
Sad that this is the dominant approach for "dealing with" suicidal people.
