There are various reasons for this, some emotional and others practical, but, to put it bluntly, at home people get suspicious. They want to know why you're not sleeping, why you're drinking so much, why you suddenly need a gun.

Well, at least it's good to note, that if I ever choose to use a hotel, I will resort to the cheapest room to prevent the hotel from incurring a massive cost.
