Obligatory thread for your thoughts on the new TurkeyTom video

As the title states. I figured he's a big enough creator that it's definitely gonna bring some considerable attention to the site. He's actually one of my favorite creators, but I do find the title and thumbnail to be highly fear mongering and, as per usual, paint the forum in a very negative light. But feel free to discuss, just wanted to put this here.

I'm disgusted with his video, and the others like it. They see this site as a "death cult" filled with people just trying to get others to die, when that simply isn't the case. This forum is one of the most supportive places I've found online, period. I don't just mean in terms of CTB, but in community. If you need support and want to be able to discuss it without filtering things down, I can think of no better place. Yes, there are some people purely here for help CTB'ing, but that's their choice. That's what this place is for, providing people with the ability to look at their situation and make an educated choice. I would much rather have this forum helping people be educated on how to CTB properly than leaving everyone with no information and ending up in hospitals in severe pain, brain dead, etc. Of course, this is the internet, and I'm sure there are some fucked up people here just trying to get others to die, but more often than not I see people encouraging others to reflect and make sure that CTB is the right option for them. This community helps people, and all these videos do is cause more pain. The half-assed censorship used in them shows that they don't give a flying fuck about protecting people. They don't care about us, they just want to talk about "ooo scary death forum", get views, and plug their merch. The fact that there have been two videos this close together about us really scares me. For many people here this is one of, if not the only, communities they have and losing it would be devestating. I know that for me, this community has been nothing but supportive and helped me a ton. It makes me feel less alone, shows that there are others with problems like mine. Yeah I might still end up CTB'ing, but that decision is for me, and me alone, to make.

please stop with the threads and posts about another dumb video. posts will only get people to go click on the video which will help the youtube algorithm bring 1000's of prolifers here and make it hell here for me any one here on this site

that's just what these youtubers do , they say anything they think to get clicks so they can grow their views and channel and make money . they don't care about anything else but views

i was starting to see some posts here which confirm some of my beliefs which you can't see anywhere else . now that's ruined . just like everything in this evil world. and we are helping grow that video with endless threads and posts about it to bring more prolifers here who will ruin everything here on this site

who cares what a youtuber has to say , they don't mean anything they say they just say what they think will get them more clicks

they try to be shocking , outrageus extreme it's all just to get engagement .

youtubers don't necessarily believe anything they say on their videos they will say things they think will get them more views . it's all about them gettting money .

they play anyone who clicks their videos or talks about them . we are being played to bring in prolifers to this site which will make it hell here .it's all about attention which will bring the clicks and the $$$ to them

I think it's worth discussing but I don't see any reason there needs to a second/multiple threads when there's already one going that everyone's been using.

Do see your point about multiple threads, maybe a megathread could work for this type of stuff. The real problem though is that the audience he is trying to reach is one that is not forgiving to this site, which is why it is important to talk about it if there any major consequences or updates. Plus maybe the guests who are not against the site in principle won't be so harsh after looking at some threads.

Here we go again. As if the first video wasn't enough. There's nothing new about this site to cover. Just another way for the self righteous to feel righteous by targeting suicidal people as they always do.

It was very upsetting to me. I know it's probably in the better interest of the community to know what is being said about it but at the same time I can't help but wish people wouldn't share stuff like that when it drops. It just makes me feel unsafe in what is supposes to be a refuge (or the closest thing I have to it)

What are the motivations behind publishing such a video?

Is it to to serve society by putting out a "a warning"? Well, guess what, there have been tons of exposés already made including one made by the largest American newspaper in circulation and the largest news outfit in Britain and those still failed to shut this site down or to curb membership (indeed, the exact opposite), not to mention all the lobbying and initiatives against this site. So what do you think you're going to accomplish by dressing ground that's already been trodden several times the length of Earth's circumference. Honestly it feels a little presumptuous.

Then there are other motivations that are worse. Just exploiting this site for clicks and views and laughs. That's just gross and disgusting and extremely hypocritical when they accuse us (even though the supposed victims and perps amount to one and the same people) of taking advantage of other people's misery (that a lot of these people can barely even conceive of) while morally posturing themselves as altruists who just want to save people while opening up the pipelines directing people to this site.

I'm afraid for both the users that were apparently exposed on the video without any censorship whatsoever as well as afraid for what this means for the rest of us in the future when other YouTubers inevitably check out this site and decide to their own "exposing" video

It could potentially mean that any one of us could essentially have our personal information aired out to millions of people out of the blue one day, and we'd be helpless to stop it

The whole "Suicide death cult" thing is such BS. I found SS after a failed attempt in an effort not to massively mess up while attempting to CTB. Id still be attempting even if I hadn't found PpH or SS it would just be a lot messier.
