We may never be back to normal for years. The stock market crashed. People and society are already breaking down. Governments are about to collapse. Guys, this is worse than World War II. I'm going to catch the bus soon. And many other people are probably going to catch their buses with me. I predict that suicide rates will increase at least tenfold by the end of 2021. Godspeed.

I really don't think this is worst than the second war, and it is a bit tasteless to say that, in my opinion. There was mass genocide back then. Cities bombed into oblivion. Over 70 million dead. Don't get me wrong, the corona virus is bad, and the next 6-12 months are gonna suck, but it won't lead to the collapse of our civilization.

Not as bad as WWII. But, we will need time to recover. Yes, we are in uncharted territory. But, millions were killed in WWII, this will be mostly 100K when it's over.

It's a messed up time. I'm seeing more reports of suicides lately and not just on here. I'm debating how soon for myself

According to American Journal of Epidemiology, Spanish flu killed 15m-17m people and infected 500m in the course of two years during a very brutal post war period. The world didn't end in 1920 and it's not going to end now.

WWII, for argument's sake, was a 6 years long and had a casualty estimate of about 60m people total mainly centered around the soviet union, China and Germany. Comparing wars to pandemics is like comparing rocks and water

Indeed, as the person above mentioned, the Influenza, H1N1, the misslabeled "Spanish" Flu, infected up to 1 of every 3 human beings around the globe, and had a lethality of slightly over 10%, and it began amid a world that was already torn apart by 3 years of world war. This disease began in 1917 and... it was over by new year's eve of 1918. It spread fast, like wildfire... and burnt itself out in the end. In an era before modern medicine. In an era before vaccines. We endured it, and life moved on from it.

This isn't the end of humanity, nor of civilization.

That doesn't mean I ain't prepared. I have my SN at hand, and my hopes that when the time comes, it'll be as effective as I hope it'll be.
