Will any of you leave instructions about notifying others of your death? (Outside of immediate family). I have friends and former co-workers in other states and social media is our main form of communication. I don't have a significant other or children, so my executor will likely be notifying family. I'm just wondering if I should have them put something on social media so people know what happened instead of wondering why I'm not responding anymore. I feel that it would be unreasonable to ask them to notify each person individually.

You could set a legacy contact on social media sites such as FB, that way it will change the page to "remembering (insert name here.)"

No. I'm not on social media.

People will just have to wonder, and word will get around in time but in your case a FB memorial page isn't a bad idea.

I want a few certain people to be notified and I only have contact with them through social media. I think I'm gonna try to have a paragraph written out for each and in my note at the end I will have a few things I would like to be done and just having someone copy and paste the paragraph and send it to the named people would be good. That is my hope anyway.

When you set someone as your legacy contact, do they get notified when you do it (ie: before you're dead & tip them off that something's up)?

Yes, but I believe you're allowed to edit the message. One could easily say they were going through settings, saw the option was there, and wanted to complete it

Hmm...might be too suspicious given my last recent attempt, but I like your cover story. Maybe I could use someone less suspicious than the relative I had in mind...also, who gives a fuck? I literally have no friends.
