It be that way here. Some people are long standing users, but most stick around a year or less at best. Site has a lot of funny, intelligent and kind hearted people who's commonality is obvious. Plus most of us are very broken, hence why so many are here for a year or less. That said, yeah, unlike most other forums/social media, this place legit feels like a neighborhood with people you mostly feel more comfortable around than anyone else.

And yes its so nice to share regularly with people that really know where you are at. Friendly 'faces' across the days so to speak.Yeah just fair warning though:
some neighbors don't keep their robes closed all that tight, soo... if you catch a loose testis or a boob hanging out, best to just smile, wave politely and pretend you didn't see it :\

This place is definitely better than reddit, that's for sure, and while I do like parts of 4chan, the anonymous-ness only takes you so far before you realise you can't connect with anyone else, just shitpost.

I only see one mention of Reddit in here, lol... Even so, I feel like the design of Reddit removes a lot of the potential to "feel" anything from it. It's one of the best sources for plain information, but the experience seems more akin to reading an instruction manual than anything that breeds familiarity or "community."Y is everyone hating on reddit lol. Here, you can actually become familiar with other members and their stories and personalities. Add to that, people being as vulnerable as "vulnerable" gets (and relatably so), and that's a setup for pretty strong attachments being formed.

Only other thing I feel I need to add is don't get TOO close to people here. This is because when and if they decide to CTB, it's gonna hurt. A lot. Have experienced this first hand several times here and I miss each and every one of them greatly. Especially the one friend who was so, so similar. That one still hurts these years later....I miss them every day.....

Whenever I see a familiar profile picture or name I always go "oh hey it's them!" It's nice to see familiar people as I'm browsing even if I don't interact with them.
I may have mixed my pop culture with some real life images :|Has this happened to you oh no
But seeing as I'm old, I still see "neighbors" as getting the "morning paper" on their porch/sidewalk; and naturally they have to squat down at some point to pick it up.
