my goal is moving. moving thousands of miles from anyone I know. when that's taken care of, which is going to be a very long process, I plan to cut off everyone I've ever known and start fresh. no one I've known is worth holding onto. I've changed my name, even if covid hasn't made it permanent, erased the ties it has with my former life.

sometimes a fresh start with nothing more than a thought to try to do better (and forgive if you can't) can do wonders. I may not be at that point yet, but I'm working towards it.

I figure if anyone can relate it's people here. people who can understand the damage people can keep doing no matter how good intentions may be.

I have to put myself first.

I can sort of relate.
Though at the moment I'm still financially tied to my parents lol.
If I were a EU citizen I would have been backpacking EU working in Michelin star restaurants as a cook.
Unfortunately I'm on Chinese passport, having its limitations on travel freedom/work rights,
means having to build up financial independence first.
Pain in the ass but I'll get past that soon.

As an individual, only you have your best interests, given that you know what you are doing.
You have to trust your own instincts and follow through with it to have your contentment and success in life.
Starting afresh is a meaningful challenge, although can be scary at first, it builds a person's characters.
The freedom to be able to create a new chapter of life is simply amazing.
Take that first step. Go after your goals/things that make you happy.
Do it and be happy!

This is exactly what I dream of doing...it's either this or death.... In order to do this we need to be self sufficient and independent and make sure we won't need anyone else's help

A fresh start can be a good way to remove toxic people from your life. It used to be that something like going into the Army helped a number of young men to accomplish this.

One problem with a fresh start is that some people can find it somewhat isolating, particularly if they have difficulty making new relational connections. For this reason in planning a fresh start, it might be good to also consider social aspects such as volunteer groups, social organizations, churches, etc.
