Living in the US, I can assure you that no one cares about your mental health. Even the politicians who scrape at every issue under the sun never speak on mental health. Services have been gutted, insurance doesn't want to pay out, providers shrink the insurers they will accept, and the providers aren't getting paid enough.
Your partner will go to the hospital with you if your leg is broken or if you have a heart attack. But if you have an mental break? Say that you have depression? You get a pat on the back and shuffled off to eat a bunch of pills. Your family? They'll play the trauma Olympics, tell you to get over it, or throw religious rhetoric in your face. That's if they don't laugh in your face first, telling you that your mental health issues aren't real.
No one wants to listen, especially those who contributed to your mental health issues. Your ptsd. Your trauma. Your reason to ctb. They'll tell you to get help just for you to go through a revolving door with a hospital bill and shrugged shoulders. People are selfish. People are cruel. People are animals and never stopped being animals.
So when you think about your funeral, your wake, the aftermath, know these people who said they gave a fuck and never acted on it, all they cared about were appearances. If anyone fucking cared about us who have mental health issues, we would be much better off.
And all they would have to do, at the bare minimum, is fucking listen.
